Keynotes are ways of remembering remedies, and of treating patients in emergencies. When you have several of them together, it can often point the way to a successful prescription.
However, it also tends to make practitioners only ever think of one remedy for a particular symptom, and so can ruin your chances of finding the correct remedy. Rote prescribing is generally only useful for first aid, not for anything else. If you use keynotes, make sure you have some other confirming symptoms - some peculiars, general themes. I often find that if you have at least 3 strong keynotes, and some general emotional characteristics to back you up, then the prescription has a good chance of succeeding. Remeber too, that a keynote is a symptom for which that remedy comes up very frequently. It also means that it is possible to suppress the symptom with the keynote remedy, because it is too suitable for just that one aspect. This is why you need several keynotes to cover more of the case. ------------------ David Kempson Dip.Homoeopathic Medicine Member A.H.A(Australia) [This message has been edited by DavidJK (edited 04 February 2001).] [This message has been edited by DavidJK (edited 05 February 2001).] |

Thank you Dr Bhatia, I think it is important to educate people, not just treat their illnesses. Many problems in treatment could be avoided if patients understood why we do what we do.

Hello
I recomand you all too read the books of the father of the word keynote. Guernsey. Then you will se that he did not mean one symptom. But "keynote" means like in playing a piece of music, you have a ground tone. He was misunderstanded in this and did write articles to show that he did not mean anything other than what is stated in Organon § 153-154 KSF |
