Hi again, Lisa,

The sore nose with crusts (they are what hurt, in the NM remedy) are a result of dryness. The bloody part of it is that the nose is so dry, mucus forms these awful crusts, which hurt the lining of the nose. When they "tear" away, there is blood!
NM appears in Nose, discharge, crusts, scabs, inside; rubric. If the crusts adhere tightly, Phos2 appears as the one remedy. If they are bloody, a bunch of other rems come up: ambr, am-c, am-m, calc, kali-bi2, nat-a, phos2, puls, sep, stront.
I'm using Kent's so I'm sure many other good remedies arent listed in my rep. How is that for more things to think about?

Well, more stuff about boogers! Isn't this a nice detail?

Anyway, that is the "bloodiness" I was looking for. Oops!! I just realised it is sore around the nostrils...excuse me. Could this be from blowing the nose so often with paper tissue? Or do you think the coryza is harsh and excoriating?

So, so far you have the sore nose, the feeling of painful pressure in the ears on coughing and and tiredness. Is there any vertigo with that sensation of pressure?
Are there any new symptoms to report, now that she's had a rest? Has there been a fever, chills? Just trying to understand what's happening...

I do think Ricki is right about the use of some immunity boosting echinacea right now. Just to shore you all up!

Hope you are feeling a little better, despite all this...

Divina

Hi Lisa,
The suggestion for the Echinacea is an excellent adjunct to the case as it is running now, only as a herbal tincture preparation, not as a remedy. It does boost the immune system in those who take it this way. Good thought for the entire family also, keeps the bugs from really digging in. Try "Herbs for Kids" brand. good quality across the board. Ten days only though, and then 10 days off, repeat one more cycle for good measure. I have found that Lachesis
allows aggravations to linger, but if well chosen, will clear chronic cases over 60 to 90 days. Remember if the remedy is working, the Homeopath doesn't.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the help.

I haven't actually started to give any Echinacea to anyone in the family..
I was wondering more about this - would rather treat with Homeopathic remedies...and wonder if anyone could give more thoughts on the Echinacea in tincture form and why it is a good idea when we've all been on remedies?

I didn't give my daughter any remedy...she woke the next morning (yesterday) and simply has a typical cold - not too bad, some coughing, blowing nose less...and no other symtpoms besides the ear feeling slightly muffled/clogged. Also, since she had the Lach for the sort throat a couple of weeks ago, I realised it might still be working - and.....

She seems to be holding her own quite well for now, so I'll leave it unless things worsen...but I think she's on her way to feeling better already.

Thanks much everyone,
Lisa

Echinacea is a herbal tincture that is used for boosting the immune system. I have never known it clash with a homeopathic remedy and I prescribe it al the time!! The important thing as that it is taken as a course and not permanently. It is good to repeat it if you get a cold. It is also excellent to use as an antisptic like you would use Calendula tincture as it has the added advantage of not healing so quickly that dirt may get trapped in like calendula! It's good as a gargle for sore throats and mouth ulcers too. Swallow the rest!!
