You probably realise that this could be a heart symptom, so the patient should be advised to be checked by a doctor.

In Murphy's Rep I found Chest Pressing pain, motion amel,
dros, seneg

Dros is a tubercular remedy - they feel persecuted, for example by whooping cough.
Seneg I don't know well, but it's full of catarrh.

You might need to look at this more broadly. The general motion amel is certainly important.

Hi VS,

Here are some possibilities from the Complete Rep:

1 CHEST; OPPRESSION; motion, on; amel.: 2seneg.
2 CHEST; OPPRESSION; sitting; agg.: 1staph.,
1sabad., 1psor., 1phos., 2nat-s., 1mez., 1mang., 1laur., 1kali-n., 1kali-c.,
1croto-t., 1crot-h., 1cic., 1cham.,
1carb-an., 1calad., 1anac., 1agar.
3 CHEST; OPPRESSION; sitting; agg.; motion,
after: 1acon.
(that is, if the patient feels the pain while sitting AFTER motion)

Or, you could use:
4 CHEST; PAIN; pressing; motion; amel.:
2seneg., 1dros.
5 CHEST; PAIN; pressing; sitting; agg.:
1stann., 2seneg., 1mez., 2chin., 1cact.,
1anac.

And add in this rubric from Kent's (since sidedness in the chest chapter is not to be found in the Complete, for some reason)

CHEST, PAIN, pressing, Sides: left: acon, aur, calad, carb-s, carb-v, chel, crot-t, dig, dulc, ferr, hep, ign, mag-mur, merc, nat-s2, nux-v, pall, ran-b, sil, spong, staph, sulph, sul-ac, tarent

or

CHEST, OPPRESSION, sides: left; calc, crot-t, samb, seneg

This could be a problem with the heart or with pneumonia, depending on further questioning. You might want to ask for a sensation and a less general location for the pain, eg, does it feel like a vice? like a plug? like a weight? Is it on the left front or left back area?

Hope this helps,
Divina

Yes, I would say the same thing!
Thank you both!
Yes,Anna,I was thinking of the possibility of a heart symptom but itīs always good to be reminded. Anyway, here in Sweden people come to "us" when they have tried all doctors in the area and none of them helped...

Divina, of course it helped! It looks like Iīm having "dictionary-problems" . I was looking at oppression, but it said something else in the dictionary, and itīs good to know that it is OK to take that rubric too. I asked the "patient" what kind of pressure it was but all he could say was that well, a pressure feels like a pressure. (helped me a lot )
Thanks again for your help!

Hi VS--

Don't you just hate that? When they say things like, "A pressure...feels like a pressure!" Drives me wild.

Here is the definition of "Oppression" I found on-line at Merriam Webster:

Main Entry: op·pres·sion
Pronunciation: &-'pre-sh&n
Function: noun
Date: 14th century
1 a : unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power b : something that oppresses especially in being an unjust or excessive exercise of power
2. a sense of being weighed down in body or mind : see DEPRESSION

So, a feeling like a weight was placed on the part (similar to what pressure means, but not always the same thing).

Course, it would help if that were clarified a bit, but what can you do--use the patient's words and see what comes up! Good luck with the case (ps--not lots of work--just "cut and paste" from the on-line repertory I used!--but hope it helps you in your work.)

Divina
