Personally I give Avena Sativa MT to take 3 or 4 times a day (5-10 drops in a little water) with a constitutional remedy for withdrawal symptoms. In Boreicke it is mentioned for withdrawal from morphine but I find it works for other drugs as well.

Ricky,

How good you are to mention Avena sativa--I have just been reading quite about how useful that remedy is in treating addictions of all kinds. Certainly it has the skin symptoms and the nausea, doesn't it? I guess these symptoms are commonly found in all "withdrawals" from addictive drugs.

Thumbs up

Ricky Thanks,
I'll read up on Avena but it does seem to have something that will help.

She is plagued by these hives That are appearing and disappearing and are inside her mouth and on her face, the started to move down below her neck and I thought we were getting somewhere, but today they have reappeared on face neck hair and in mouth. I think the itchiness is really getting her down. It certainly must be demoralizing for her.

She has taken a fair amount of remedy over the hols, 2 1m Carcinosin, several Phos 30c, and a couple of Ars. 1m.

Would you advise Avena Mother Tincture as well, as you have suggested?

Your help is appreciated.

Nux can also be very helpful in clearing away the ill effects of drugs.

Avena Sativa as the Mother Tincture or herbal tincture does not in my experience interfere with constitutional homeopathic remedy as it works on a different level.

nrg- the Nux6/Sulphur6 routine does work to clear the system of drugs but needs to be given under the auspices of a local homeopath who can monitor what happens. However in this case the drugs have not yet been withdrawn completely.

Yes you are right Phos did help her a lot, as did arsenicum.

I asked not to take any more for a couple of weeks, and as it stands she has not and the hives have reduced ........a lot!

Yes infact she did exactly that she went back on them for a while before I got involved and the symptoms were significantly worse, so given that she had the symptoms anyway best to stay off them.

One of her doctors denied that it was the drug and the other agreed it was the drug. In my opinion those things are lethal and people should be adequately warned before start on the medication.

So far so good for homeopathy though we'll she how she goes.

Maybe I've missed something, but it seems as though Phos. has actually helped her, and there are a number of Phos. symptoms in this case: center of attention/life of the party, etc. Why not increase the potency of Phos.?

Secondly, it's well known that going off these psychoactive drugs cold turkey is a very bad idea! Maybe she should put herself back on the drug and withdraw herself from it slowly while continuing with the phos. daily, which seems to be her constitutional remedy.

I agree it does sound like Lachesis, especially the jealousy etc., but I'd look at Pulsatilla (as Boericke says: "it is the weather-cock among remedies"). Especially weeping when telling symptoms, the hives problem, preferring to be outdoors and "vomiting of food eaten long before" (Boericke), pressure on her head; "changeable, contradictory" (Boericke).

Sorry LisaAnnan.
In regards to previous posts, I also started one regarding addictions, in fact I think they were my 1st posts on this forum. I did a lot of research re: Avena MT (my brother was struggling to stay clean and sober from a drug & alcohol addiction). I finally came up with a combination that he says has worked wonders for him: Avena MT, Angelica MT and Quercus Spiritus Glandium 3X.
