Unhappy

Hi - I posted a general update on me ("aggro "thread) some hours ago before going
to bed (at 2am my time).

I had a headache, which I thought I might sleep off.

Well, it is now 740am and Ihaven't slept more than 5 minute intervals. The headache
is absolutely torturing me.

Bending forward ameliorates the throbbing, alhtough there is still pain.
<lying down (throbbing ensues).

<bright light
Slept (if you call the last 5 hours of tossing and turning sleep) with window open,
and noticed that the chill on my neck from the night air, made my neck sort of seize
up - only improved when it was warmed up again. I cried and moaned throughout
the night, desperate to find SOME BLOODY POSITION I could lie in to go to sleep. I
AM SOO SLEEPY and yet, everytime I doze off, the pain in my head wakes me.

My husband made me take a Panadol (250mg paracetomol), and it has helped a tiny bit.
Although, it seems getting up (as opposed to lying down) seems to relieve the
throbbing - even so, there is still a due/burning sort of pain there.

Vision right eye is affected - slightly blurred.

Pain started top/right and behind eye (right) last evening and got much much worse
when I tried to go to sleep.

I would really appreciate some help. I NEED to get some rest/sleep - my children are
back to school today and I need to be able to drive.

Any help would be soooo appreciated.
Lisa

Question

My headache seems to be helped by the Panadol, but I really do NOT want to take this stuff .

I fear it will only resurge in a few hours, like yesterday.

(I wrote 'due' above..and it was supposed to be DULL argh....).

Anyhow, I just took my children to school - was okay enough to drive (thanks to Panadol), but am worried it will come back with a vengeance by noon when I have to pick up my son.

Does anything in particular stand out to anyone with the symptoms i wrote above? Please feel free to ask questions, I'm not thinking that straight with no sleep .

I am extremely irritable with headache...much less so now that it is 95% gone from the Panadol.

Any help would be so much appreciated, please.
Lisa

Dear Lisa,

I'm going to try my best to repertorize your case. During your restless phase, when you were tossing and turning, arsenicum might have helped; when you were feeling very irritable, nux-v. might have helped. In fact, if your prescription medicine seems to cause it to return in its own peculiar way, it might still be nux-v., as an ailment due to "abuse" of drugs. But I'll see what I can do, keeping in mind that when it returns, it will be *those* symptoms that we'll have to prescribe on.

Good Luck!

Thanks - actually - just to clarify the irritability.

I was ONLY irritable when the kids started arguing (because of the throbbing, I couldn't bear the noise!)..and they quickly calmed down.

I wouldnt'say I was generally irritable - just when sort of provoked by pressure/stress/fighting kids. Once they stopped, I was quickly calm, and felt quite loving.

Hope that helps to distinguish things.

I don't usually take Panadol (IT IS NOT PRECRIPTION medicine..it is the SAME AS TYLENOL) - so would this one tablet constitute abuse of drugs? (Although, come to think of it - the irritability ONLY happened after taking the Panadol, but not sure if that matters).

I'm not irritable now..and the headache seems to be gone.

If it comes again, it will be this afternoon or tonight (probably when you're waking up again, as I'm in the Middle East, so 10-13 hours ahead of you).

thanks for offering to help - I will post later my exact symptoms, when and if it does resurge!!! I really appreciate it, thanks much!
Lisa

Dear Lisa,

I just repertorized your case. For the totality of symptoms: Cham. and Phos. were tied for 1st place. Using underlining, Bell. was in first place. The Expert System said: Glon. and Iris. The "Strange, Rare and Peculiar" analysis said Phos. and Cham.

I used:
Headaches:
Maddening pain
Throbbing
Right sided
Behind the eyes
Blurred vision
Photophobia
Irritable
Moaning with pain
Moaning with restlessness
>motion
<lying

Bell. looks like an obvious remedy to start with, but remember, the picture might change if and when it returns.

Good luck!

Lisa,

I have to go to bed now (1 A.M. my time), so hopefully someone else will reply when your headache resumes later on--which we obviously hope it does not!

I'm glad you were able to find an allopathic remedy that helped. What matters is, you feel better!

Talk to you soon,

Snoopy

Thanks for your help...of course, I just woke and with no headache resurfaced yet, I'm thinking it is better NOT to palliate (suppression, I think) the acute...cuz there are other things to consider in my case....so, thanks again...what you came up with is interesting...
I'm just wondering about ALL my symptoms - cuz I posted an update on my Aggro thread...so maybe there is more to consider...

But, again - thank you - I was feeling desperate when I posted earlier...and I think I would have taken something just to get through the pain....

Ahhh - this isn't always easy - riding things out!

Gary,

Thanks for the information: headaches caused by lack of sleep: Nux-v. I have a friend with chronic insomnia with headaches and I'm going to tell him about nux-v. right away--thanks!

Based on th sympotms given, I have looked at this case, first remdey is 1.Bell, 2. Phos, 3.Acon,
My question when you blurred vision is it before or after the headacahe starts or during the headache, also
Which foods to like, and does cold air make is better or worse. Nux-v is very good remedy when the headche is caused by lack off sleep, I have given Nux-v many time with great results.

Belladonna: Migraines that start in the back of the skull or upper neck and spread to the forehead and temple (especially on the right) may indicate a need for this remedy. Pain is throbbing or pounding, and worse from jarring, light, and noise. Headaches often begin in late morning or afternoon, and may be worst around three p.m. The face may be flushed and red, and the skin feels hot, although the feet and hands are often cold. The pupils may be dilated, with sensitivity to light, and the person may either feel delirious or drowsy.

Phos-feels better from eating ice cream or other cold, refreshing foods suggests a need for this remedy. The person is usually thirsty for cold drinks, but often feels nauseous or vomits once liquids warm up in the stomach.
