Unhappy

Hope someone can help. My daughter and I both started with symptoms on Thursday, which were identical at first, and now have gone their separate ways.

My daughter-started with left sided sore throat, sneezing, post nasal dripping, snuffly nose on left side, clear mucus, no fever. Next morning had some diarrhea for a short time which was preceeded by abdominal pains that were better for pressure, sore throat much worse, tonsils swollen, glands swollen, arch around tonsils red but not tonsils. She says it feels swollen when she swallows, like her throat is the shape of an hourglass, feels like it narrows in the middle of the swallow. Left ear became intolerably itchy deep inside, she was making an awful almost gargling noise to try to scratch it. Sore throat moved totally to right side last night. Today, throat sore on both sides, hurts worse to sneeze. Arch around tonsils very deep red, almost a bluish or purple tinge to it, but still tonsils normal color. Some nasal congestion, still sneezing, clear mucus, post nasal dripping. Still no fever.

Says hot drinks are better but not huge thirst, appetite about normal, still her cheerful little self, but would like to see if we could zap this before Christmas. For lack of what else to do, I gave her a dose of Lachesis 30 last night, for the left sided/left to right stuff, but it hasn't seemed to help.

Me--started with left sided sore throat, hot, raw and burning (rare for me to EVER have a sore throat on left), lots of post nasal dripping like a faucet running down my throat, throat hurt on top and down the back, not on tonsils, like from the mucus dripping causing irritation, mild nasal congestion left side only, nose a little runny, clear mucus, left ear a little full feeling, but glands slightly swollen on right side. Yesterday congestion got worse, some yellow in the mucus but still mostly clear, still post nasal dripping but getting thicker in throat, have to keep clearing throat to get my voice to work right, all moved totally to right side last night. This morning, woke up with terrible aching in both cheekbones-almost felt swollen, some soreness to the touch in both eyebrows worse right, sore throat much less-worse right, right ear now very full, both sides of nose congested but worse on right now, thick yellow mucus from right nostril a few times, coughing a little mostly from mucus in throat but sometimes perfect little round or oval balls of fairly clear to white mucus come out when I cough (this is an old thing with me). No fever for me, either.

Appetite off, not much thirst but wanting very cold or very hot, mentally ok but a little weepy--please, cartoons and commercials making me feel like I'll cry (this isn't totally unusual, those dang Hallmark commercials, you know, but a little worse the last few days...I'm sounding a little Pulsatilla-like, aren't I??). I also took a dose of Lachesis 30 last night...it's the only thing I have here with the left side and left to right movement, so thought it worth a shot since we both felt so terrible and it was so late. It seems to have done nothing for me, either.

So any ideas for either of us? Would appreciate all suggestions...tomorrow is Christmas eve, gotta get better here.
Thanks,
Sunny

Hi Sunny...maybe it is Nat-mur for your daughter and Hep Sulph for you??

We just went through all this too - and it seems there are a handful of rem's for this crud going around.

Consider too, if you've taken something recently.

Of course, I don't know for sure - but read up on them and see if they fit.

Hope you both feel better soon!!
Happy Christmas .
Lisa

Thanks, Lisa...will go to that link now!

I did give my daughter Nat-m when this first started...remembered your thread and with all that dripping and sneezing she had, made sense. She said it helped for a while at school with her stuffy nose, but stopped..so I gave another dose after school and it didn't do anything. Should I have gone higher, hmmmm, don't know, but now that it's fairly localized in the throat I'm lost. Been back and forth through the MM...SHE herself flipped through a homeopathy book I have, thinks she sounds like either Acon. or Bry., go figure, maybe should listen to her. Me, who knows, I'm like a guinea pig with the rems anyway.

This is a nasty one, isn't it, seems to be circling the globe. Oh well, be glad it's not worse, right? Just heard recently something like....if you can't be thankful for what you have, at least be thankful for what you DON'T have that you DON'T want...makes sense to me

Merry Christmas to all!!
Sunny

I wouldn't consider commercials (including Hallmark!!) "horrible things, sad stories..."

The hallmark commercials in the States are more emotionally-moving rather than sad or horrible. They usually make one feel a longing for family, etc....

Can't be easy to always find the proper rubrics....and I'm not convinced that rubric really fits.....

Anyhow, I hope you figure out what you need, Sunny. Remember, it isn't always necessary to take a remedy for every acute as someone recently told me - risk of suppression. And acutes are our body's way of throwing off things...and better to let them run their course if they aren't unbearable.

If it is unbearable, then hopefully you can mildy palliate enough to work through the bug. Then you'll both be stronger because your body will have 'righted' itself. Also, I think non of us rest enough when we catch these bugs - and this helped me a lot when I had this nasty bug .

Have a Merry Christmas ....and feel better soon.
Take care,
Lisa

Sunny, Calc Carb 200, one dose for you both.

For you I repertorised

Generals, sides left to right,
Mind, horrible things, sad stories affect..etc
Throat mucus post nasal

Which gives only Calc

For your daughter,
Ear itching, eustacian tube
Ear itching left
Generals, left to right

Which also gives only Calc

Happy Christmas

Mabye,"Weeping from happy or sad things"
- PULS (only remedy).

Or I guess you can use "Sentimental."

This is of course just about the crying stuff, not a prescription (although, with all that thick yellow mucous, you gotta give is some weight!)

Very funny!!! I have banned all Hallmark commercials from my home, wouldn't even walk near the card store, so problem solved!!

I don't have calc in 200, only 30, so we each took a dose of that, best I could do. My daughter's sore throat went within minutes, but did return in the morning. Gave her another dose, again sore throat went and is still gone now. It didn't touch the nasal congestion, though, which is very bad, her poor little nose is like Rudolph's from all the blowing, still clear mucus, lots of sneezing, and now she has a fever of 100F. She complained earlier that her back was aching while we were at the mall...let me tell you NOTHING stops this girl from shopping but she wanted to leave!! Back doesn't hurt now. She seems to have lots of energy, in good spirits...likely excitement of Christmas. Appetite still good. She used to get something like this often but with high fever, and Puls worked pretty well, so I'm keeping that in mind if it gets any worse.

I woke up this morning with such a painful right ear, totally stopped up full feeling, but sinuses were less congested than yesterday. I've taken only one dose of calc. this morning, head felt clear within an hour or so, ear cleared, more energy, less lethargic, lasted most of the day. Nasal congestion a little more now, mucus clear-no more yellow so far, some sneezing, right ear slight fluid feeling, hurts a little on right side of throat into ear when swallowing, loosing energy fast, can't stand the cold air and it's REALLY cold around here. Slightest draft chills me deeply.

Oh well, supposed to go to my dad's tomorrow, and everyone who will be there has some version or another of this crud...should be interesting. Maybe we can have a sneeze-off or a nose blowing contest

HO HO HO
