The cough has been always been worse in the evenings, and in the middle of the night (around midnight). Starting yesterday, she woke up and coughed and has been coughing on & off during the day as well. There is no expectoration at all.

No change in the frequency of stools. Her desire for food has diminished and there is no clear indication of any foods that she desires. Although I should confess, she has been snacking a lot, and unfortunately they are chocolate related. There are no foods that seem to ameliorate that I can see.

However, there may be a trace of chilliness in her that I can see, but not significant at all.

How interesting that it gets worse around midnight...another confirmatory for Arsenicum. Is the chocolate available because of the holiday, or is this something she normally craves and reaches for?

I would still try the Arsenicum in the 12c dose, to see what happens. If you can't get the 12c, start with the 30c (you won't have to repeat as often, but I figured she was so sensitive to the phos that it would be best to go "low and slow"). Is there any thirst at all?

Yes, I still say Ars too as first choice.
Additional reasons are:

Generals, sensitivity to remedies
+
Hands, washes, always washing her hands.

I can't see Med, but if there's an explanation forthcoming, I'd be interested.
Since there was no reaction to Puls and there was to Phos, I would have thought that also indicates Ars [close to Phos] rather than Med [closer to Puls].

Hi all,
I gave her one dose of ars alb at 4 pm, and then one at 6 pm. The cough did seem to improve after the first dose.
She ate two eggs (very unusual)for supper and then took a long nap on the couch from 7 to 10 pm. No cough while taking a nap.
Woke up and asked for milk.
After drinking, she has been coughing really bad.
Just noticed that while coughing she started to lay down. Once the cough spasm was over, she then got up.
Her cough is little loose now & still very hollow.

What potency did you give in the Arsenicum? I think there has been some improvement, particularly because she has had some rest and asked for food. I also think its a good sign when a hollow sounding cough which produces no mucus starts to sound productive. But it may be time to redose...possibly with a higher potency. Please write back so we can discuss.

quick update:

She had a good night sleep, but this morning she woke up with really bad cough. Sounding very hollow and deep, almost metallic like.
She slept most of the night on her back. She would kick off the covers when the room became a little warm. We have set the thermostat to 67 deg F at night.

By the way I had given her Ars 30c, since i dont have any thing lower.

Also, she did not have any BM's yesterday at all.

Her thirst has been normal, nothing more or less.

When she woke with the cough, did you give another dose? Just curious.

How is she now? Better? Is the appetite returning?

You mentioned that she ate some eggs, and this was unusual--could you tell me how they were prepared? And, when she lay down during her coughing fit, did she lie on her back until it stopped (you mentioned she slept on her back...)

I do see some remedies listed under the rubric COUGH, Milk aggravates, but I'm not so sure its unusual for milk to create mucus in the respiratory tract that would set her off. All of these things may be pointing out another remedy, if she has not improved much since yesterday. If she has, the best thing to do is just wait. She does sound like she's getting better--has there been any evidence of a fever?

She still has been having cough this morning, but no fever yet. I did give her one more dose of Ars. alb 30c, but I Diluted in some water and successed a few times just to change the potency, and then gave her one table spoon of it.

She always likes the eggs to be sunny side up. She like it to be soft. Anything that is soft and creamy, she likes.
She usually eats only one one, and it was good to see her eat two.
Regarding her lying down while coughing, she did that only because she woke up from a nap, and she was on the bed when she coughed. She just layed down on her side and coughed. And once she was done coughing , she got up. This happened about 4 times in a matter of 5 minutes. After that her cough subsided.

Wanted to update you'll:
We had to take her to the doctor this morning, just to get her checked, since we were heading for a long weekend.
The Doctor checked her up, and diagnosed slight wheezing with sore throat, and a possible ear infection.
Although she has been coughing on & off during the day, I have noticed her overall condition to be actually better today than the last two days.
