Hi again folks,

I've just been given a new remedy by my homeopath and I've been told to stay away from a few things like coffee, other homeopathic remedies, etc. but there is one thing I dont understand. Why am I not suppose to have any dental work, especially drilling, while I'm on a remedy? Could someone enlighten me?

TIA
strillo.

That is interesting, indeed, Stillo. I don't know the answer to this one - never heard this before....I'll be intrigued to find out what others know about this!

I've heard this before from my old homeopath and others...the intense vibration of the drilling?

My old homeopath used to recommend staying away from dental appointments too. I haven't found that to be an issue with the homeopaths who frequent this BB.

Perhaps there are several factors?

One of which might just be (if the fillings are amalgam) that mercury could/would be released thus dumping poison into the system.

Vibration, as Carol suggested, just might have some effect - well, it probably does have some effect on a person when something 'violent' is done to us....hmmmmm, still pondering this.

Possibly the dentists use chemicals that might be inimical or antidotal to the remedies. Whether anesthesia, cleaning or other chemicals.

Anyone know for sure?? I'd be interested to hear a sound argument on this.

Hi All - I've heard all of the above, and that novocaine (being of a camphorous nature) can affect a remedy's action. But I also just read something interesting that stated that because of all of the acupuncture meridians in the mouth (one under each tooth) that any drilling and filling and vibrating can affect the vibrational aspects of a remedy. No one has done any "experimental research" on this but it's worth considering.

Happy Chewing!

Dawn, that would make a lot of sense! I think acupuncture actually works along the same idea as homeopathy, in that the meridians are targetted to stir the "vital force" (and homeopathy does this on a much deeper dynamic level, with remedies). So it seems likely to interfere.

I've often thought acupuncture is quite effective, but it can get in the way of homeopathic dynamics. Perhaps this is what is behind the dental work sabotage...

Incidentally, this did happen to a patient of mine: and she made the connection on her own--she noted her pains made a faint return after seeing the dentist, and remembered that the dentist was something to consider during the treatment! But everything was fine with another dose of her remedy. I just always thought that the stress of dental surgery--any surgery or trauma--would cause a crisis of some sort, and the remedy might need to be given again to offset the interference.

Hi Divina - Good point and I think you're right on there, any kind of dental work is traumatic so will have some type of effect on a remedy's action. Having needles and hands and chemicals and drills (not to mention PAIN)in such close proximity to my brain is traumatic to say the least! It always takes me a week or two to recover from a dental visit.

Thanks again for the info. Does this go for all kinds of invasive surgery?
