Unhappy

I'm really amazed - cannot believe we have all been soooo darn under the weather.

Here goes:
Husband complained tonight (I didn't notice earlier as I was sleeping with my own sore throat problems! grrrrr!)of:

Slight headache - frontal extends to temples..as if a band were constricting. Slight low throbbing..constant.

Lethargy set in afternoon - around 3-3:30pm drove him to bed. Woke with worse headache.
< for movement.
> lying down.

Also says his muscles are flu-like sore - little aches (come and go) in muscles throughout body. VERY TIRED.

He said that earlier (while I was napping) that he noticed his eyelids were closing involuntarily. Looked this up in Boericke and found only Sep and Gels.
Also looked up other rubrics, although was unsure if I had the right ones. But this symptom was the most unusual to me and when I read up on Gels - decided on that..it has the band feeling, etc..and worse for motion, etc..

Gels 30 one dose.
Be interesting to see how he feels in the morning.

Any comments are most welcome....just posting mainly to keep track of this - but also appreciate any input - in case I missed something important (which would not surprise me!!).

Many thanks for any suggestions or further info anyone can add.
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Gelsemium sounds like a good choice to me.

Its a very slow, low vitality remedy. Some homeopaths believe it acts along this kind of pace, too...

Hope it works well!

Thanks both of you!

I didn't get a chance to ask my husband this morning if his head was better, before going to work - as I only am waking up as he leaves! (not a morning chick! never!!!! ).

I will report later how he goes on the Gels! I hope it did the trick - we reallllllllly need a break from all this sickness.

Kid's school Xmas play is today and tomorrow! Don't wanna be draggin a*se round and feeling horrible..one of us is enough!

Lisa

What wealth Zmyst? Huh? Sorry, don't get that one..but I'm not at my best at the mo, either.

Just wanted to update on my husband:

Headace tried to come back today...but never really took hold..started early afternoon..and just fizzled out.

Ptosis of the lids - involuntary...seems to be related to lethargy and tiredness. He says he doesn't feel any worse than yesterday - not really better...but at least no headache.

So, considering the rem was Gels - is this good 'progress'?

Thanks much,
Lisa

If you feel he has come to a standstill - I mean the flu - not him I'd give him another Gel. 30. remember Lisa this is an acute not a chronic problem so you can repeat as soon as you think the remedy has been used up.

Question

Thanks for that, Ricky. I'm a little confused because I thought (maybe I'm wrong though!!) that Gels was slow to work - and needed a couple of days....is that not correct?
Thanks much,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Well, Gels is a veerrrryyyy slow remedy--but I think it had an immediate effect on your husband in that he went to sleep apon taking it and awoke without the headache the next day (am I remembering this correctly?). Of course, it has not acted surprisingly fast--as in, immediate, 100% full recovery...but consider that the flu did not develop outright. There is just tiredness and droopy eyelids at this point, without the bone-aching, joint soreness and chilly debillitation of the typical Gelsemium flu state. Redosing of the remedy should clear that up and restore him within a day or so.

When I think of a fast acting flu remedy, I think of almost immediate reversal and restoration of full strength...but I'm not sure you'd see that with Gels. I think the patient is very tired to begin with, so sleep and rest, what is needed, has to take place in order for healing to begin. The healing then seems to take place more expediently with the Gels than without, as the patient doesn't suffer through an extended flu illness. Like your husband--just a couple of days without the full blown illness, which he now has a little more strength to fight off. By the way I hope he's better today,

Divina

Hi - thanks...I actually did re-dose him after reading Ricky's post - because I sort of deduced that since it had stopped the symptoms from worsening the other day - that it might be time for another dose.

He seems okay - still tired - but its been busy - two days of kiddy Christmas plays (last one an hour ago...they were soooo cute!). He actually started to fall asleep during the play!!! (it was loud )...so, his symptoms are no worse than before - and the headache did not come back this afternoon that I know of (he's out at the moment..and I'll check with him when he returns).

Anyhow, it is now our weekend (thur/fri) and I think we're all gonna adhere to the sheets for 48hours and try to rest!

Thanks again Ricky and Divina for your suggestions and explanation.
Lisa
