Hi - I felt odd last night...had a scratchy throat...like a million tiny bristles - only mild scratching upon swallowing.

This morning woke with mild headache...vertex. Slightly better this evening - but still there.

Nose is running a bit too...clear.

Sneezed this morning...severaly times at once...around 920A.M. Then no more sneezing.
Tastes like a cold when I sneezed.

Keep having to cough to clear my throat - as the mucous is dripping down and irritating it...no pain really to speak of - just mild irritation.

Feel a bit hazy-foggy and tired. Not sharp as usual.

Any suggestions?
I saw Nat Mur for the runny nose (egg white clear)...and Gels for tiredness, but I'm not sure I'd say I've got the 'heavy' feeling. Bry doesn't seem to fit...headache is NOT worse when coughing or sneezing.

I took one dose of Coff Crud 30x this morning...
Not sure if it did anything. The only change is that my nose is running a tiny amount since then. No more sneezing..but that could've been anyway.

????Anything stand out here to anyone?? I feel terrible!! I feel this is the beginning of the type of cold that lays me flat out.

Still feeling awful . If anyone sees this = I would appreciate the input.

I forgot to mention that earlier this evening (around 5ish p.m.) my eyes felt sort of sting/hot and dry. Now not so much.
Headache has moved to the left/top side. A bit more painful than earlier - but not unbearable. Kinda tingly ache - and the tingles move over to the back of the head..no pain in back of the head, though.

Throat is worse - better when I swallowed a bit of food....maybe 'better' is the wrong word...it felt soothed a bit when I swallowed supper. Hurts to swallow. Feels sore when I drink, but am a little thirsty - only mildy though.

Back of neck feels a bit creaky/stiff.
Temperament is quiet and just want to lie down...and want to go to sleep..but don't at the same time...go figure. Not irritable - just tired and feeling awful...was quite patient with the kids this evening. Was annoyed when husband cut me off mid-sentence though (this is normal..dislike being interrupted) and whereas I usually don't say anything, I did tonight - I said, Hey don't do that!!! It's rude!! I never say that to him. He looked a bit taken aback. Other than that, feeling quite calm and lethargic. Was only momentarily upset - as if it took energy to talk in the first place and now I was going to have to muster up MORE energy to say it again (cuz he assumed wrongly...so I had to repeat everything again..he was quite sweet really, knowing I'm not feeling well and apologised)...so, it wasn't that big a deal except I don't usually call people on stuff like this.
Any help would be appreciated.

BTW: the glands are NOT sore - just inside - top/back of throat.

And, when I cough now - there is some mucous coming up easier now - yellowish/greenish tinge to it. Hurts my head a little now, when I cough, whereas no pain earlier upon coughing. Also, my throat hurts - sort of sticks/stings ONLY when COUGHING - can feel it in my tonsils - top of back/throat. When I swallow - the pain is farther back - deeper in my throat.

I feel the need to cough only because it is dripping down my throat and irritates.

Help please..

Lisa, hope you get some good advice soon. I know lachesis has sore throat worse on empty swollowing but better with food, also worse on coughing, hawking and left-sided headache.

Try some Hepar sulph 30. If by the time you have taken 3 doses there is no improvement we need another Rx.

It could be maybe useful to know about the circumstances you think you caught the cold...wind, wet feet, cold air when perspirated...I don´t know...

Hi All - thanks for the suggestions. Pity I wasn't up late enough to see them before going to bed .

I waffled between Gels, Lach, Lyc and Nat-M. Ended up trying 1 dose NM 30 - as the modalites fit best out of all three. Some of the modalities of Gels fit - only not stimulants. Also, some of the modalites of Lyc fit too!! The modalites of Lach didn't fit at all! This was hard to choose!!

Why Heph Sulph Ricky? I'm guessing I didn't give enough info...sorry.

Also, my throat was soothed by warm drinks(hot tea actually) and food while it hurt to swallow cold drinks. And, my ears were particularly full/blocked - still are this morning. Relieved when blowing nose (momentary though). Just felt tired and wanted to lie down (which I did).

Feel a wee bit better this morning. Just blocked ears and MILD throat pains on swallowing - hardly there now. Still coughing a little - to bring up mucous that drips down throat. Nose is NOT runny anymore. Headache is GONE.

Thanks VS - had a wee bit of upset yesterday morning with my daughter - so maybe that brought it on? Not sure, because the start of the symptoms were there the night before but were mild.

BTW: VS...I do know this...dry cold or hot bothers me. It is the dryness that seems to affect me most. I do much better in humid weather even though my hair looks AWFUL. I feel better and nose, throat etc are okay...but when it is dry - irritation sets in.
Probably better in humid/warm than in humid/cold. But comparing humid/cold to dry/cold - definitely cope better with the humidity.
Wonder if this factors into this acute?

I did notice yesterday morning when I FIRST woke, I JUMPED out of bed to turn off the a/c - HAD TO HAVE fresh air...(a/c's dry the place out!) also it is humid here, living 2kms from the sea .

The Hep Sulph fitted the last lot of symptoms that you gave of how the cold was progressing so I went on that. yellow mucus , throat hurts on coughing, headache on coughing if I remember rightly.

Did you take anything in the end or not?

Thanks Ricky, I did say above that I took Nat M 30x. It took the headache within 2 minutes (which was ever so mild) and I slept well. Woke feeling much better.

I felt better today, but around 4-5pm I began feeling overly tired and unwell again.

The marked symptoms tonight are:
throat is sore on swallowing - not terrible...but mainly radiates a sticking/stitching pain to both ears. Actually I'm having a hard time describing it...it is sort of like the root of my tongue is sore when I swallow and THIS radiates slight pain to the ears on swallowing.

BTW: you know that awful pain when you bite your tongue? Well that is the type of pain at the base of my tongue ONLY WHEN I swallow, which radiates to the ears.

Also, when I cough - throat feels scratchy/rough/bristly.

Hoarse...losing voice.

Nose is sort of blocked but have odd moments when it runs (clear!) but very little comes out. Cough still - only slight...and it is the drainage that makes me cough - to clear throat mainly! The drainage is irritating to my throat. I felt as if the mucous was sort of hanging on at the back of my throat...still is. Like it doesn't completely
clear my throat when I try to cough or clear it.
Not coughing up mucous like yesterday...like a fine sray of wet - and that is all.
Occasional small amount comes up..not yellow anymore....??

The only time I feel I need to 'hawk' is after I brush my teeth - to get everything out of my throat (this was last night).

BTW: Hawking doesn't seem to help clear the
mucous at the back of the throat!! Ineffectual!

Head fulls heavy and full - typical cold, really - congested? Eyes are slightly tired -
and warm..not hot and not dry though. No burning either.

MUCH flatus!! Annoying really. Passed stool twice today, but never felt finished..same colour as posted in my other thread (orangey). Urge but ineffective really. Slight dull aching pain in colon...full of gas and ...? Not a nice aroma either.

Is Hep Sulph still indicated?

No other symptoms really. Fairly calm mentally, emotionally..but watched a movie a
while ago - had a very sick baby in it and made me cry a wee bit - tear-up.

Any suggestions? Is this enough to go on? I sure would like to get better soon!!!

PS Ears muffled/blocked - crackling on swallowing (this is kinda normal for me
though...but worse with this cold). Ears clear and I hear better momentarily when I
blow my nose - and sometimes when I swallow. Definitely crackle upon swallowing.
Also, a friend of mine just arrived from OZ (Aust) and she had strep throat when she
arrived...(she was on antibiotics .
Just checked my tonsils in the mirror - THIS IS ODD> my LEFT tonsil is more swollen than the right! BUT has NORMAL COLOUR..with white spots! Right Tonsil looks normal size and colour but hurts just as much as the left!

Wonder what this indicates now????
