Just wondering what your favorite ones are. I have Kents rep and Kent, Clarke, Phatak and Allens MM but wanted to expand, especially the reps. All input is welcome!

I love Morrison's Desktop Guide. And Materia Medica of the Mind is useful (forgot the author, he's East Indian).

Another suggestion for a repertory--the Complete repertory by Roger Van Zandvoort, which includes Boger's and Boenninghausen's repertory additions. The most amazing thing about it is it is available on-line! So you can try it out for free at www.irhis.nl.

But I know what you mean about Boericke's MM...I think I have the same addition you write about, and mine is beginning to look pretty threadbare too. I love its compact size and the amount of information packed into it...plus the fact that it always presents the very developed pathology in the remedy states, rounding out all the other remedy "pictures" written about in more modern texts. Good, and very handy!

Hi,
Probably because I'm such a novice I like Boenninghausen and Knerr because they have so many BIG BOLD TYPE remedies! Makes me think they have no question what is the right answer! Also use Eizayaga because it actually has disease/condition names, which I know is frowned on but it is useful with animals which is what I am most interested in.....mentals are a little difficult with non-humans. Guess there is the good old Boericke. I feel especially privileged to have a 1920 edition (pristine till I got it) and it brings a sense of awe every time I hold it with it's lovely Bible-like black binding and onion skin pages. That book is what caused me to try to learn about homeopathy. Had never heard of homeopathy before this book was unearthed in a small hospital attic in the nearby Philadelphia area and given to me by someone who knew I was interested in HERBS!

Actually.....that brings up .........well, maybe I'll start a thread............

Talking about herbs and Boericke there are so many references to the MT in remedies where it gives dosages at the end of the Remedy and that is herbal tincture!!!

I agree that the Complete Repetory is great, and is set out somewhat like Kent's repetory.
I get very good use out of Vermeulen's Concordant MM and Synoptic MM vol. I & II. Also Morrisons Keynotes is INVALUABLE - and his Desktop Companion to Physical Pathology is not bad either.

But of all of them I get the most out of all of Sankaran's Books - Spirit of Homoeopathy, Substance of Homoeopathy and especially Soul of Remedies - almost every prescription I make from this book works.

Another couple of very interesting books I use are Choudouri's MM and Tinus Smits Practical MM.

And lastly, but not least, Scholten's Homoeopathy and the Minerals, and Homoeopathy and the Elements - similar in many ways to Sankarans books but with a novel approach to prescribing.

David, I love all those books! Scholten and Sankaran are fascinating. I got a little sample of what is coming up in their work (do they work together? I wonder) on plant remedies--a kind of "Periodic Table of Elements" using plant families arranged according to genus and miasms...

Some really amazing work is being done in homeopathy!

Hi!
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Vermeulen's MMs.
Vermeulen's Concordant MM is so far the most comprehensive one. It's based on the Boericke's MM, then all others old authors are integrated into it, including Allen, Boger, Cowperthwaite, Clarke, Hering, Kent, Lippe, Phatak, Pulford.
Vermeulen's Sypnotic MMs (1 & 2) are keynote-type MM, with additional info from contemporary authors like Vithoulkas, Sankaran, Sholten, etc. (compared to Concordant MM which is from old homeopaths) I love it very much, so is my classmates. It gives important keynotes for each remedy in 2-3 pages (A5 size). Very clean and tidy layout. Take a glance and you get the main picture of the remedy with confirmatory symptoms. Also, there is a section called 'Rubrics' - this is a great way to learn the reperotry. You can look up the rubric and find out the other remedies that have the same symptom.

As for repertory, I am using Synthesis. However, I think the Complete Repertory by Roger van Zandvoort is the best. I know a homeopath who exclusively use this repertory (not even a MM) and arrive at the simillimum for every case with very consistent results. (But, he has a unique way to use the Repertory.)

Wink

The one and only unbeatable rep is still Kent.
Second is and complementary, is Syntetic , By Barthel and klunke.
Third. Boenninghausen.
Vermeulen is good, but cant beat Allens in many perspectives.
The rest of the mentioned books i would not use, as theyr to misleading.
