Question

Hi, I'm just wondering how common or strange this particular symptom is?

When someone hears a song or is simply reminded of a song (whether they like it or not) and it cycles through their head - and even when they wake up the next morning, it is 'still playing'....and they can't 'get it our of their head'...

Anyhow know which rubric for this? Or which remedies have this??

All replies welcome!!

Lisa

Hi Lisa
I have suffered from this for years and it drives me mad. It wouldn't be so bad if it was always a tune I like but as you say it can be anything!!
The rubrics i have found (Murphy) are-
Sleep- insomnia-thoughts- melody repeated-puls
Mind-thoughts-persistent- music
Mind-sensitive-music-to-continues to hear the music he heard during the day in the evening.

Ah, yes, I have experienced the delusion of hearing a symphony under the influence of one of the remedies, in crude form, listed in the previous post! But that was long ago.

There is another rubric I found in the Complete Rep:

MIND, Sensitive, oversensitive, music, to; continues to hear the music he heard during the day in the evening: one remedy--lycopodium.

Incidentally, I once heard the goofiest cure for this malady--to stop the repetitive song in your head, sing the childhood hymn "Jesus loves me, yes I know/Cause the bible tells me so"... a couple of times. Apparently it will take that other tune right out of your mind!

That is SO interesting - thank so much everyone for your input.

In my own case - this is something I've had since ages ago! Doesn't happen all the time but when it does (especially with a song I hate!) it is annoying. Nice to know this features in Lyc - and interesting that since taking Lyc - it is less frequent!

Wonder if it will 'go' completely as time passes. Not really a problem NOW - but was curious about the odd symptoms that we sometimes get!

How important would a symptom such as this be in a person's case? Is it considered SRP? Or is it more common than I know?

Lisa

PS THE song that used to plague me was VIVA LAS VEGAS! - when I was a travel agent, years ago - and we would call up Bulk suppliers for trips to Las Vegas - they would ALWAYS have this horrid song on while one was holding for the call to be answered....it used to TORTURE me at night!!

Luckily, I haven't heard it in years...but since I've remembered it NOW - it'll probably start again ! LOL

Geukens is a Lyc too, and he told on a seminar, that when a song begin to "terrorise" him, than he knows that something is going on in his body, and than itīs time for a new dose of Lyc...

Cool

Well, thank GAAAAAAAAAWWWWWD that Viva Las Vegas didn't 'start up' in my head since posting!!! LOL.

That IS VERY INTERESTING VS!!! Did he say anything else? Enlighten me please.

Sorry, who is Geukens? Obivously I live under a rock out here . I've heard the name, but know nothing about him (? or her).

Still wondering how important this particular symptom is in a person's case...does it depend on whether it is bothering him/her much? The degree of irritation from the symptom itself?

Any thoughts?
Oh and, one more thing I'm wondering now..I see Puls listed in a lot of the rubrics
put forth - What is the relationship to Puls/Lyc? Anyone know? I look this stuff up - but some of it is still Greek to me.
Thanks 'guys'.

Lisa

Hi all,
Also - is this rubric(s) something to do with concentration? Does it always hamper concentration, I mean?
Anymore thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Lisa
