Divina, I meant Didier Grandgeorge, not Andre Saine. Sorry for that misinformation.
Quebecois is a splendid new word to me. Thanks. As for the remedies being more that the sum of their parts, I agree about plants and animals for sure, but I am not sure about mineral springs since they lack an animus or a "plantimus" [excuse term, but you know what I mean] that might make them more than the sum of their parts. I know some springs can gather legends and the like so there might be a "value added" somewhere in them but it's a bit tenous. By the way, many thanks to Bette for allowing this discussion on her thread. I should have started another Bette, sorry and thanks. I hope it hasn't dissuaded you from posting further. |

Thanks to everyone for the discussion... a week ago all I knew about homeopathy was that it looks at the person, not just the problem...
![]() If anyone is interested, I'm curious to explore natural ways of increasing energy levels and the effects of exercising... after any type of substantial workout (say an hour at the gym) all I want to do is sleep... I have my first appointment with a homeopath this saturday, so I will be keen to know of your experiences... thanks again, Bette ![]() [This message has been edited by Bette (edited 27 November 2000).] |

Hi Bette,
Here is a website with some good research on nutrition which you may find useful: www.price-pottenger.org I found that just cutting down or eliminating caffeine use helps to bring up energy levels, as the adrenals get a chance to "rest up"; other boosts include taking/eating flax seed oil or other omega 3 fatty acid source foods (such as any cold-water fish, like salmon) every day along with oil of evening primrose. Those are just a couple of suggestions, but I'm sure you will find a few more on the website I mentioned above. Use what sounds like it will work for you. Doing a lot of this "supplement-taking" can really become a bit of a chore, so I don't normally recommend it; but your body does need certain nutrients. It is always best if the nutrients come from foods as opposed to supplement tablets. Your body will function much more happily if these nutrients are provided, and this will support any homeopathic treatment you receive. Divina |

I joined here because I wanted to know more about weight loss and homeopathy. I have used something called a "calm mint" which has about 6 homeopathic remedies and really works to keep me from overeating when I get upset. I also bought the "stress mint" from the same company but the calm one worked a lot better. So I looked to see what the difference was in the remedies and I started thinking it was Sepia. I bought Sepia and it seems to be the remedy that I need. I have a serious problem with night time eating and this is the only way I can stop myself. My question is, how much should I be taking? The "calm mints" say you can take as many as you need. I have the 30C sepia and I take 5 pellets 2 or three times in the evening. Is that too much? I also bought a really good homeopathic book on the constitutional types and I know I am a Sepia or some part of me is because when he talks about Sepias having energy flows that other people are not sensitive enough to recognize---that's ME! I have had them for years and years and did not know what they were and this is the first time I have found anything in print on the subject. So that was quite exciting. Still, I don't know how much to take? I want to get another book on homeopathy and am thinking about getting the DK encyclopedia. Any thoughts? |

Anything that is a combination of remedies is useless to take, classical homeopathy does not use combination remedies for a symptom cure, you are waisting your money! Its only on the market for sales to laypersons who do not fully understand the principles of homeopathic prescribing..........................a marketing ploy............................for a full cure there are no short cuts no self prescribing,no try this try that.............you need to make an appt. with a trained classical homeopath in person National Center for Homeopathy - Home Page Law of Simplex - The Single Remedy Hahnemann in aphorisms 272-274 of ' Organon of Medicine' states that only one single, simple medicinal substance is to be administered in a given case of time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My question is, how much should I be taking? The "calm mints" say you can take as many as you need. That is 100% rubbish! Throw it away! I have the 30C sepia and I take 5 pellets 2 or three times in the evening. Is that too much? My god who told you to take this much? 1-was sepia prescribed via a full casetaking done by a classical homeopath? 2-there are 3,000 + remedies-only the well indicated remedy will work/only the well indicated potency will work 3-no classical homeopath prescribes 5 pellets 2 or 3 times per day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This will cause a homeopathic "PROVING"- WARNING- do not do this!YEs that is WAY too much,do not self prescribe! see the link i posted and find a the directory of homeopaths for each state

I have tried to find a homeopath and I will call the closest organization near me from the website you suggested, but I don't think there is anyone nearby.
The calm mints actually do work---if I get really upset and want to eat, they do calm me down, however I know you are supposed to take a single remedy, ideally. I just don't have access to a homeopath. I have a combo ear remedy also and it works really well. There used to be a cream homeopathic product called slim patch (not the same thing as the slim patch that is a patch, this was a cream) and it had a lot of remedies and it worked perfectly for me, but they went out of business. Thank you for your thoughts. |

Hi Bette (and everyone else on the thread)
Combination remedies do work to some extent (between you and me I use one sometimes for my hayfever). If you feel the Calms are helping there is nothing wrong with continuing to take them. However, they will not get to the root of the problem- for that you need constitutional treatment from a professional homeopath. Go easy on that Sepia though! - it's probably not the remedy for you (and even if it is you have already had enough!!!) Sim |
