I had a very good case of Aqua marina in a patient for which I had used Nat-mur without success. She was very frightened of robbers, would lock her door at night and put a chair up against it, wake at slight noises, search the room for robbers etc. She was very sensitive to people and very concerned with others feelings. I had also given her Staph and Stram, as she had a great fear of intruders at night, of being attacked or abused, and had a history of rape where she was unable to defend herself. But the most peculiar part of the case was that she imagined the man she was sharing a house with was spying on her while she was in the shower. She also felt people were looking at her through the windows at night and insisted on curtains being pulled.

Where the other remedies had failed, aqua marina did wonders, even recreating a serious illness she had in the past. She lost almost all of this fear at night.

Thanks very much Divina and David.
I read in Vermulen about the "spied on in the shower/bath" delusion. Nice to have that verified clinically.
It would be good to know that differentiating periodicity rubric too if you can dig it out Divina.

This "people looking through the window at her at night " I have come across with 3 separate Phosphorus children to such an extent that they would duck down when going past a window at night.

Ricky, thanks for that info about Phos.
Aqua Mar apparently has more of a delusion that the bathroom door is open and she is being spied on through the door.
Window - phos
Door - Aqua

Hi Ricky,

Isn't that interesting about your cases for phosphorus--isn't there quite a great deal of phosphorus in the organisms in sea water? Or is the term "phosphorescent" applied to the sea only in a poetic, descriptive sense?

I'm hunting out that old rubric now, Anna...

Wink

It also contains arsenicum, among other metals, like bromum.cuprum, iron, aurum,..and many more..a complex remedie, one migh say...
and arsenicum, has also the fear of intruders..
so, the question is,is it a remedie to be comapred with tuberculinum, or the other big ones, or is it an easy way out..as a complex remedie..more or less non homeopatic..and is it researched thouroughly enough, to be said that one knows what it really can do, regarding both good and bad?

Hi,
We see phosphorescence when the water temperature is warmer than the air temperature, in the sea. That is when the little creatures 'glow'....funny too, if you're on a boat - and it is nighttime...and you get up for a wee - well, if you look down in the toilet you will see the little flashes of colour during the stream ...

or you could just stand next to the edge of boat and stir the water..that makes them glow too. We also can see fish swimming around beneath the surface..the movement agitates the tiny creatures - and warmth makes them glow brighter.

Interesting point about phos and aqua marina .

Hi Anna,

I was under the impression Andre Saine is Quebecois--I have met him and he taught many of my teachers when I was in school. Perhaps he practices in both places--a common occupation for many people in Quebec.

Anyway, I looked up Sanicula and was quite amazed to see how much its symptoms had in common with other remedies, such as sulphur, arsenicum, natrum mur, phosphorus, calc, silica, magnesium, etc--all the minerals you'd see listed on any mineral water bottle, in different proportions depending on the spring. There are a number of remedies made from different spring waters from different locations of the world. Certainly, they will all have similarities, but more importantly they will have differences as well.

This really shouldn't be surprising, as all the "organism" remedies have their own configurations of different elements. Sepia, for example, also contains natrum muriaticum, phosphorus, calcium, sulphur (most likely), and other minerals--but it is an animal substance, therefore greater than the sum of its parts. Same with plant remedies--some will have a lot of silica in them, especially very tall, strong-stalked plants, such as the delphinium or larkspur (the staphysagria remedy); plants also have varying amounts of minerals such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and calcium as well.

I don't think it would be wise to call any of these remedies "combination remedies", and therefore non-homeopathic. They have all been proven individually, as individual remedies. As long as they are prescribed on the totality of the case, they are homeopathic remedies.
