As you will see from many of the posts on the BB the main remedy is Arnica. You can use the search function to look for these posts. There are also other remedies depending of the operation, these remedies are needed when cutting nerves etc.

Arnica is the main remedy and can be used for several days after the operation, but not before.
Phosphorous can also be used if you react badly to the anesthetic or continue to bleed after the operation. |

Depending on your circumstances, would you consider trying homoeopathy so that you do not need to have the kidney removed?
It is not guaranteed, but homoeopathy can act in a way that conventional medicine cannot touch. I know that non-functioning kidneys have been made to work again by means of well prescribed homoeopathic remedies. If you want to try it, you don't need to cancel the op, just defer it while you see if homoeopathy can help. And find an excellent and experienced homoeopath to treat you. |

I am aware this is not a constitutional prescription but if you decide to find a homeopath to help you please mention Serum Anguillar Ichthyotoxin which can make regular dialysis uses need dialysis less frequently and those who are considering it not need it at all!!

Dear Lisa,
it is not wrong to give a remedy just prior to some ordeal, and if we as Homoeopaths prescribe it to a patient we have some influence over, then that is ok. But I don't like to send people off taking a remedy for a few days before anything has even happened yet, as there is the possibility of a proving, and if they have no homoeopath to advise or back them up, that can make an operation even more complicated. The idea of prophelaxis in homoeopathy is a tricky one - we never know how any patient will respond when the trauma happens - we can only assume, and you know the saying..... I have seen patients given Arnica develop flu-like symptoms( aching, restless, bed seems hard) or even bruising before operations, and the doctors treat it like some new state or postpone the operation. So I am very cautious prescribing on a state that does not yet exist but I predict will exist. I prefer to treat the feelings the patient exhibits prior to the op (Calc, Gels, Acon, Ars etc) and use the trauma remedies after. Using the remedy on the same day of the op is ok, I think. Less chance of a proving. |
