Hi Barb, Did you hear anything about the chicken pox vaccine being mandated in Illinois for July 2001 and that the religious exemption wording would be changed?Someone told me this last week and she is quite involved in vaccination issues in Illinois but she tends to overreact at times. She said something about not being able to use forms for the exemption but parents would have to write out their objections. Do you or anyone else know anything about this for Illinois?

No Dessie I haven't heard of this and boy will I be pissed off if it is true. I am taking my little one in for her 1 year check up(Happy birthday maddie) in a couple of weeks and will ask her pediatrician then. I also have a good frien who works for a pharmacutical company (SINNER )and will see if he knows anything about it. It is a difficult issue to deal with. Do you get your kids vaccinated? Let me know if you find out any more info regarding the vaccine. If is becomes mandated we'll just have to search for an infected person to rub our kids against

Hi Barb, he only had polio injections and DT and I haven't done any other nor do I intend to. Since we only have religious and medical exemptions here it is making me nervous..just so they don't go with some affiliation of a church thing...although I had heard some talk of pushing for a philosophical exemption. Two holistic doctors out here told me never to use the medical exemption because it can be challenged too easily. I used to live in Pa and they took the philosophical exemption away last I heard. Thanks J. Volkman. I don't like them messing with the exemptions unless they are adding!!! Tell me what you find out Barb.

J. Volkman I thought in some states they did require an affiliation? Am I wrong then in fearing that? I needn't be concerned then?

This might be naive, but why not join a strict religious sect for a month before vacs are due?

Wink

...they didn't mention a stipend... or it could be tempting.

Perhaps we could establish A Homoeopathic Church, in which the sole dogma is the rejection of vaccinations. Sounds as though the state needs to be played with on its own terms.

Sincerely,

Revd A Bryant

Boy that is an interesting site One Baby Kitty. Well maybe we really don't have anything to worry about yet anyways but I like to be prepared. Anna I wish it was that simple. These exemptions must follow them all the way through school til they graduate. Plus they keep changing the laws in the states so you have to be prepared or at least on top of things. Its my understanding too that in Illinois 90% of the children must be vaccinated or the school loses 10% of their funding which would explain why schools push for vaccinations at least here in Illinois.

For all you Illinois folks I think I found the link.....explaining this

http://208.55.253.75/Vaccinations/Va...BE%20Exemp.htm

You have to scroll down for the religious exemption one but it looks like they are pushing for specifics...but this looks like from August and I was told there was a more recent meeting. This gives me a headache.

Oh and here it is from ISBE themselves...
http://www.isbe.state.il.us/pps/guidelines.htm

I really dislike those people!!!
