Hi Dorothy,
Try to find Udo's Choice - it has all you need (including Vit E).

Also - I agree with Hoppitt - were you fasting when the blood was taken? If not, then it could give a falsely high reading.

I had high cholesterol after the birth of my first child - and it lowered through diet - I ate an avacado everyday - olive ONLY (no other oils for 6 months!) - and I also ate a bowl of porridge (oats) everyday (with raisins and cinnamon, cuz I LIKEM'!).

Anyhow - it returned to normal in 12 weeks.

Also, stress can be a factor as well - were you under any more stress than usual, lately? If so, that might account for the sudden increase.

Take care and hope you get some more answers soon .
Lisa

Are you currently taking a constitutional remedy? All the contributing factors need considering too. High blood fat is just one symptom that goes with all the others you may have. It shouldn't be treated in isolation as that is alopathy.
Saturated fats (animal fats, coconut and palm kernel oils) are the worst for making cholesterol(including the fat from dairy products). Also avoid most margarine because it is hydrogenated to make it hard and thus made into a saturated fat.
Olive oil is beneficial as well as Udos' Choice both already mentioned. Also soybean, flaxseed, primrose and black currant seed oil are good.
Whole grains, fruits and vegetables help lower cholesterol. Oats, apples, bananas, carrots, dried beans, garlic and grapefruit are good.
Recent research shows that refined sugar, and refined grains, alcohol and coffee may increase cholesterol in some people.
For one elderly gentleman I used podophyllum pel, colchicum aut, and cholesterinum in low doses and it brought his cholesterol from 8 down to 3. It also gave him a lot more energy.
With age our Human Growth Hormone decreases and this can be a cause as well as inherited predisposition.
Stress as mentioned also.
Exercise will increase the HDL the good cholesterol that prevents heart attacks.

thank you all. yes, it was on a fasting test. i never drank coffee, nor liquor since 25 and now 84,been a strict veggie from l969 to 89.then picked up on fish/fowl as bl2 was low.bl2 is high now, so can back off on that. do not eat dairy products, any fats but those mentioned and then carefully 1-2 tablespoons a day the most. dance twice a week, do all own housework, garden, trim trees, wash car and teach 2 nites a week and run a social club of 70 people, and wrote a book on same. so you see I am active. do have low thyroid and take 3/4 gr. of RX thyrolar a day.the rest is homeopathy for allergies, etc.do take vitamins and additional 400 E, and Omega 3 oils.i eat all steamed, baked foods. 4-6 veggies a day, and 5-6 fruits a day. assorted grain cereals from health store not in boxes which all have sugar in them, do not eat sugar or salt, use powered vitamin c instead of salt, about 3,000 units a day.I do put flaxseed, seaseme sead in my oat bran twice a week, and only use soy or rice milk. I will read up on homeopathic remedies suggested. Seems I cant take 1M in any remedy, they all prove themselves to badly with other things, guess its the age I will reread all and thanks for thinking and wrtiting to me.

Dorothy,
You are marvelous! Hey, I hope I get to be 84 and are half the lady you are!
You might need a slight increase in the thryoid medication. So get it checked.
If you take your temperature first thing in the morning even before you sit up in bed, is best, because any activity will raise it. If your temperature is consistently below normal for three mornings in a row then get the doc to do a blood test.
Go for the test first thing in the morning with as little actively beforehand as possible.
And are you on your constitional remedy? Great to see the care you take of yourself. Your doing terrific!

Cool

Thank you, yes I just had a fasting blood test inc TSH thyroid, have been taking 3/4 gr. thyralor since l982and it checked out o.k. this test showed high LDL and also Bl2 was double the normal amount but doc. says that not to worry on higher Bl2, i really like all to be in normal range. I really have no one constitutional that I take every day. or weekly, GM had me try a few 1M's but I prove them to much, like blood shot eyes, etc. I do have to take vaious tablets when I get heavy postnasal drip, sore throat, or bronchial/asthma heaviness mostly due to change of weather, dampness, nites, wind, pollen.(story is that when I was 6 mon. old I fell asleep under a big tree on a receiving blanket, awoke all blue and choking. and since then have had mucus and chest problems, allergies which I've lived with all these years, but when i took my body away form doctors and went to homeopathy l976 got faster relief, but no real cure as yet. So far as to present problem think I'll try using hawthorne, cayenne,E,lecithin comb.by NatureWay while I still researce a homeopathic remedy. Still hoping somebody has more info for me on the subject. thanks to all.

Dear Dorothy

I don't know what remedies you've tried, but if you have some books on homoeopathy, you could look at Caust and NatMur.
Also, this is not a full case you have posted. In order to offer more accurate suggestions, it would be necessary to know a full health history, including family health history and your general character and major events of your life etc.

Since you are so sensitive to remedies it might be better for you to take remedies in LM potencies in future. These are gentler.
