Dear Questioner
I have worked at Neal's Yard Remedies in Oxford, England; a city where there is a constant nit epidemic. Neal's Yard sells the bark you mention under the name 'quassia'. It is a very bitter substance. Many parents find it very useful. It comes as wood chips which need to be boiled for half an hour, left to cool and then strained ready for use as a hair rinse or spray which is left in the hair until the next wash. In each pint of water, use one ounce of quassia chips. I think it is possible to mail order from Neal's Yard in the States, which is where I assume you to be. Kind regards, Anna |

HERE IS A PRACTICAL WAY-HOW TO GET RID OF HEAD-LICE.
HALF AN HOUR BEFORE THE WEEKLY HEADWASH, THE CHILDS SCALP AND HAIR IS MASSAGED GENTLY WITH A LITTLE QUANTITY OF OLIVE OIL. ABOUT THE AMOUNT THAT THE PARENTS PALM IS ABLE TO CONTAIN. HALF AN HOUR LATER ROUTINE HEAD WASH WITH THE USUAL SHAMPOO. WHILE THE CHILD RINSES THE HAIR YOU GIVE HIM-HER THE SPECIAL COMB TO COMB HIMSELF. EXPLANATION: THE OLIVE OIL OPENS THE CLINGE OF THE EGGS TO THE HAIR. WHILE COMBING THE HAIR THE EGGS AND THE LIVING LICE ARE ALL GONE. THIS ROUTINE SHOULD BE DONE AS LONG AS THE PROBLEM EXISTS. ADVANTAGE-NO CHEMICALS AND NO PLANT ESSENCES. ------------------ SHOSHY |

Dear Madam, we have seen ur embarassing situation in school. My wife has a genuine suggestion and remedy to cure the HEAD LICE. experience in Dubai Middle East hot climate with a temp of 42/44 deg c. Our daughter had this problem developed from school and during a short visit to India. Medicine name is "CUSITRIN" manufactured by LABORATORIS CUS SA, TECH DIR A DOMENECH FABREGAT, EL MASNOU (BARCELONA) SPAIN This treatment was used and good success not only for my daughter but also for many children in the school where she was studying. The doctor of the school has specified this product application procedure: after a hair bath or washing the hair, when the hair is fully wet, apply 5 to 6 drops of Cusitrin, rub thoroughly or rinse well on the brain area, just above the neck, just above both the ears, say for 5 to 7 minutes. Then rinse the hair after 10/12 minutes and dry the hair prefer not to use hair dryer. Use turkish towel which will absorb water. CUSITRIN is perfumed product and therefore no need to wash it again. Of course, we do not know the place where you live and other weather conditions, constitution of the children, etc. My wife recommends you buy this product from any of the Pharmacies, collect the prescriptions, and consult with your school doctor and apply suiting to the constitution of each child. You may also sugges to their parents to study this product and use it. We have full faith on this product and HOMEOPATHY has medicines for this. You may consult the HOMEO CLUB G.M/GARY/RICKY who will be able to offer prisciption. Well BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR EFFORTS and we strongly believe, subject to the constitution of your school children, it will give a consoling remedy immediately. My wife confirms that even the eggs of the lice will be removed once for all and children will be FREE FROM LICE hare krishna mani <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by School Health Aide: Can anyone tell me of alternative treatments for head lice? After 3 years of suffering from continual infestation, during which we used the conditioner-and-nit-comb approach every other day to no avail, I finally got fed up and formulated a solution which worked in two applications and has kept the entire family (including one child at school and two at playgroup) free of head lice for 8 months now.
The difficulty is (here in the UK at least) that head lice are classed as a medical condition. Anything which purports to treat a medical condition must either go down the route of double blind clinically controlled trials and approval via the Medicines Control Agency, or it can be sold as an unlicenced herbal remedy (providing it is herbal of course). If the latter, you cannot use a trade name, you cannot make any claims as to the effectiveness of the treatment and you can supply no written indications for the product's use. However, the rules only seem to cover an actual product. If anyone wants to email me privately, I'm happy to share the particular method which was effective for us. If you use it and it works for you all I ask is that you let me know about it. |
