Question

I am new to homepathic remedies. Had my gall bladder removed 10+ years ago. Within the first year gain a whopping 50 lbs & have never been able to lose them. A friend suggested seeking an enzyme therapy. Anyone knowledgeable in this area??? Help!!!

Food is mixed with hydrochloric acid in the stomach. When it leaves the stomach it triggers the gall bladder to empty the digestive secretions from the liver and pancreas. The gall bladder merely stores and concentrates bile sent to it by the liver and empties it into the duodenum in response to a hormone called cholecystokinink secreted whenever fatty food leaves the stomach. When the gall bladder is taken out the digestive secretions go directly from the liver and pancreas into the duodemum. The pancreas produces sodium bicarb and digestive enzymes. Supplying enzymes will only make these glands lazier.
The proper treatment is to restore the function of these digestive organs. This may be done by homeopathy.

You may find a good homeopath to go to, or read histories on this BB to find out what to post as a history so we can help you. You can start with your current symptoms and then past illnesses. Then tell in your own words what your symptoms feel like and what led up to getting sick with your stomach problems. What you like and what you don't like. What makes you better and what makes you worse etc. What are your eating habits.

I am not a homeopath, so I can not offer you that kind of help. However, as a homeopathic remedy user, I feel confident that homeopathy can be of use to you. I would also like to mention that it is my understanding that as we get older our metabolism slows down, (no matter how active we consider ourselves to be) and this makes it more difficult to shed extra pounds than when we were young. If you are breast feeding your baby, this might also have a side effect of making it difficult for you to lose weight, but of course, this was a recent situation, as you said that you have endured this extra weight for the past ten years despite diet and exercise. Never-the- less breast feeding might have some bearing on your current weight retention. Another factor envolved is weight(fat) distribution. Some women experience great difficulty, almost an impossiblility to lose weight around certain sections of their bodies. You may already be familiar with these issues. I have found that a daily stretching program, such as a mild yoga helps tone the body. Weight lifting is also helpful, but I am sure you get plenty of exercise with a new baby in the house. Perhaps homeopathy can help balance your system so you suffer less effects from the above, if indeed these are some of the causes for your concern. Sincerely, Mselle

Boy - harder than I thought. I am not currently ill. Occassionally I have a littel acid reflux - but not if I avoid fatty foods. My main symptom is that for ten years I've been trying to shed this excess 50 lbs through diet & exercise & cannot. The most I am able to take off is about 6 - 7 lbs at the outset of a diet - I usually don't have a problem with self discipline regarding food & so have stayed with these diets for 6 mos to a year at a time - and after that initial weight loss nothing happens. I admit that at this time I am not exercising regularly - I was very ill last year with a late in life pregnancy & severe asthma due to allergies & poor living conditions. Those problems were dealt with & I basically experience no health problems except being tired. I expect that being 44 and having a newborn that doesn't sleep through the night, a 6 year old, & a teenager in the home. I am not currently working. I don't smoke & intake very little alchohol. Usually I don't keep junk food in the house & we don't have meat everyday - maybe 3 times a week. I like lots of fresh fruits & vegi's - pastas - lean meats. I limit myself to 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day - drink around 3 glasses of water. Don't go in much for soda pop at all. I have not substanially gained any weight since the surgery - except in pregnancy & lost most of that right afterward. Exercise I do not do: running reeks havoc on my asthma - the same with power aerobics & the such. I have access to a pool & liesurely swim laps if I have someone to watch the baby - plus I like to walk & have a weekly regimen with my family. Most people do not think that I am that overweight & are shocked when I tell them how much I weigh. But I remember being a very comfortable & active size 7, now I am a 16 -18.

Thanks for the input!! Yes I have noticed that certain people have problem zones for weight loss. I will try some stretching - recently had some other information about that given to me. Inregards to the suggested remedy - please be less cryptic. Is that calcuim?? I am already on a daily regimen of 2 grams of time released C w/ bioflavinoids (although I have found that Pantothenic acid works better for me - but I am out) and 2 grams Calcium, 800 mg magnesium, 30 mg zing as a reccommended Asthma therapy - it works wonders. I am not familiar with the dosage term you used (as I said I am new to all this). Yes I am nursing. Iappreciate all your help!

Whats the health status of other family members ????

because allergies and Thyroid are on same genetic link and you could possible have low thyroid

Certainly while breastfeeding the weight will tend to stay on its part of the survival/nutrtion process

I did not get right back to normal till I stopped but I know this is also a long standing problem
