Everyone else is very healthy except the oldest daughter - just turned 22. I think much is due to lifestyle though. She was hospitalized recently & released without a diagnosis. Found a D.C. who does acupuncture & is into homeopathic treaatments. He is running tests & still has no diagnosis but believes in part due to the pill (she is now off) causing a severe hormone imbalance + some mild food poisening several months back that affected her immune system. she does not live at home - have 4 other children & all are well. Hi! Without the gallbladder, the flow of bile to digest fats is constant vs episodic,ie with the ingestion of fat.Taking oxbile and/or beet root tabs with meals will allow you to handle fat without discomfort.I doubt that this is the reason for the weight gain. Check your morning temp. before you get out of bed for a few times with a basil thermometer. If temp is below 76.6,your thyroid is not working well. A thyroid support supplement may help, better to see a homeopath.

Regarding low basal body temperature, it may be one indication of low thryoid. However Dr.Barns who wrote a book about thryoid also pointed out that there is an exception, some arthritic patients may have a continuous low grade fever and be low thryoid too. So the method of homeopathy of taking the totality of symptoms still appears to be the best method of helping a patient with thryoid problems.

Question

Sorry - been away a while. Ok - I have always had a lower body temp - usually log in @ 96.6 - have a low grade fever (& feel it at 98!) Used to have very oily hair - but has been normal to dry for years, thought that was just an age thing. So - early on had my thyroid tested & it showed normal. However - was not too impressed with the competency of the md who was unable to diagnose me. At that time (it was right after the surgery & at the onset of the weight gain) I was experiencing severe intestinal pain - used to bloat up like I was pregnant & to term - ended up in the emergency room many times with no diagnosis. (Though they kept running pregnancy tests on me - Duh - "never listen to the patient they don't know what's going on!") Turned out (2 years later) I discovered through advice from a dietician & process of elimination, that I could no longer tolerate Turkey! (very curious) There were other things in my diet that caused severe pain - but turkey was the worst. Those other things I have been able to re-incorporate over the years (lettuce - broccoli, celery, peppers, cabbage, apples, fresh melons - all those good gassy things) but turkey is still a major no-no! Will try the beet root & etc - but what should I try for a slow thyroid??
