Janyce here, on holiday and have not brought my password with me (and no idea how to access my email while away - not very technical) so I created an alias for myself .

My son (3) has chickenpox at last

He has been feeling very sorry for himself today :9, high temperature, just wanting to be held (by me) or carried. He has been a little sleepy and had quite a long nap over lunch time. He has also been feeling the cold, and it isn’t cold here.

He started to come out in spots early this afternoon, on his neck and his belly, but not very many spots yet. He has been saying his head hurts above his eyes (I had a headache when I had chicken pox). He has been a little better when he has been outside.

I gave him rhus tox 30 a couple of hours ago and want to know if there is anything else I should have done (have limited remedies with me) or how frequently I should repeat this, or if I need to repeat it at all.

He has responded to the rhus tox already. His temperature is down and he is in much better spirits already, although he is still a little clingy and tearful. He has eaten (and said “cookies will make me better” when asked if he wanted anything to eat, but is eating ok)

I also have chamomoila and pulsatilla with me, and will not be able to get anything else until Monday or Tuesday.

Just need someone to tell me if I’m doing the right things, or if there is anything else I could do.

Thanks

Janyce

Cool

I would say stay with Rhus-t. yo can repeat 2to 3times a day.

Rhus toxicodendron: This remedy is useful in cases of chicken pox with tremendous itching that is worse from scratching and relieved by warm baths or applying heat. The child may be very restless, both physically and mentally. The eyes may become inflamed and sticky. Muscles can ache and feel very stiff, also relieved by warmth and gentle motion. Rhus-t-helps prevent infection.

Rhus Tox is fine but don't overdose on it as the child will become hyperactive!!! The cream works well on the skin as well.

Thanks guys

He is doing ok. I repeated the rhus tox before he went to bed, his temperature went up again and he has been a little restless. He also seems to have a little cough and runny nose.

Thumbs down

GM always advised against using Rhus-tox for chicken pox. Said it could suppress it and come out in another form of herpes later.

Lightbulb

when my daughter had chicken pox she too was very clingy and wanted to be carried. She did well on Pulsatilla.
I have never heard that Rhus Tox can suppress chicken pox before. ??
If you are worried try the puls. - it does seem indicated as well!

Hmmm, thanks Hoppitt. I was just wondering about that. He often does well on pulsatilla.

Can I go straight to the pulsatilla or do I need to antidote the Rhus tox first?

Now he is asleep I will have a little more time to check out the other chicken pox threads.

Any advice gratefully recieved. We are on holiday.....

Just had a look thru some of the other posts on chickenpox.

I was wondering about sulphur 200. Any thoughts. This is just the ramblings of an interested person, who reads here a lot. not trying to replace anyone, just someone who is feeling pretty cheesed off, pleased he has chickenpox having tried soooo hard to expose him for some time, but timing....

Elliot is currently quite itchy and saying his spots hurt him. The rash has really begun to develope today. Mostly over his abdomen and back and the right side of his nexk, but it covers all of him and new spots were developing today.

I guess if I were at home I would not be so concerned, but we are supposed to be on holiday

Rhus Tox is for itchy chicken pox. Pulsatilla is if he is very clingy and crying and responds to a lot of attention.
Sulphur is not one that I have ever prescribed for chicken pox so can't advice on that.

Is there is cough or bad breath or swollen glands?
