Question

My wife has had Epilepsy since she was 12 years old. She is now 17. She was dignosed as having the partial/complex seziure type. She takes 500mg slow release Valproic Acid once a day. She has had only two tonic-clonic seziures in her life. I can provide more details upon request.

Great I am glad to hear this. My first question is that while on homeopathic treatment, does she have to stop taking Valproic Acid? With the Valproic Acid her seizures are well controled but we want to get off this drug altogether. She has always been on Valproic acid since the begining. Her last tonic-clonic seizure was 2 years ago. This last tonic-clonic seizure occured because her Neurologist had slowly over a period of one year had reduced the dose until she had stoped Valproic Acid altogether. One month after stopping Valproic she had a tonic-clonic triggered by a fever, this was her second/latest seizure. The doctor put her back on Valproic. She also has a mood swing problem, but she does not take any drugs for that. I took her to the Phychiatrist once, he did not conclude that she has bi-polar. Before the epilepsy started she told me that she fell backwards and hit a rock on the ground on the back of her head between the ears. The MRIs came clean also. Tell me what more info you need and I will supply.

If the medine is to be removed, it has to be done gradually.
And if fever induced, it may be china thats the remedy, no malaria in the family?
And, a neck dislocation, can also cause this, and that fall is a cause, then, so get the neck checked by a chiropractic, a adjustment is maybe all thats needed to get well.

I am planning to take her to a chiropracter soon. She has no family history of fever or malaria. It is just that fever/flu cold etc. will triggers her tonic-clonic seizure if she is off the anti epilepsy drug (AED). If she is on AED and she get a cold/flu/fever then she will not get a tonic-clonic seizure. I have an appointment with a Homeopath on July 3, I wanted remedies from the experts here so that I can compare them with what the Homepath will prescribe.

GM, Thanks for your reply. We went to the Homeopath and after a 2 hr interview she has given the remedy of Zinc Acet 10M. My wife took two sugar pills in the office and she supposed to take one tommorow and then every ten day interval.

We belive that my my wife is pregnant and she just told me that she did not eat her regular Valproic Acid (Depakote) medicine for the last six days from fear that it would cause malformations in the fetus.

Let me give you some details about my wife so that you can analyze if the remedy given by the Homeopath is correct.

Height: 5 ft 5 in
Weight: 130 lb.
Age: 17

epilepsy started at age 12. Periods started at age 11. Migrane headache started at age 11 still has them usually at the beginning of periods and during periods. Mood swing problem usually gets once every ten days, gets really depressed even suicidal. Has attempted suicide 4-5 time by over dosing on Valproic acid, bleach, also jumping off balcony. None of the attempts were extremly genuine, meaning that if someone would not intervene she probably will still not jump etc. Light coating on tounge. Small pipples on cheek and forehead. More closer to father then mother. She thinks she is ugly and overweight, which is in reality not the case. Her home is in Malaysia and she is home sick, which has agravated her mood swing problem. The longer she is here in the US she is getting more adjusted and mood swings are getting better. Before marriage, 3 months back, she was eating a lot of junk food also, maybe 1/3 to half her diet. She like meat speacially beef, she also like vegtebals, example okra. She like salty and fried foods also. does not like cofee, drinks tea ocasionaly. She likes hot food warm. She likes cold drinks but not coke or any black drink. I hope this is a little more detail.

GM, my repertory gives
Head, injuries, epilepsy after:
arn, cic, hell, hyper, nat-s, zinc

Migraine headaches, menses before(the nearest, though not quite accurate to the case)
lach, nat-m, sep, zinc

Homesickness lacks zinc, but has
hell,lach, nat-m, sep

Are these useful or red herrings? I am trying to learn, thanks.

Wink

Zink is not correct, neither is the repeating of it, the correct remedy is Natrium mur, use one dose 10 m once only, and also a chiropractic check out.
