Dear Danielle, you are in good hands on the bb. I am so glad I found this web site. GM has been helping me for several months, and I am steadily improving as he peels away the toxic layers with the appropriate remedies. I am not a homeopath, so I can not offer you a remedy, however, I thought I'd mention that if you don't floss or brush your teeth correctly this will contribute to gum recession. Since my husband started cutting back on his brushing time and technique, his gums have gotten healthier. I can not describe how to properly brush and floss, check with your dentist if you haven't already considered this. Best wishes, Mselle

Danielle,
My one recommendation is to become a better patient, and by that I mean an educated patient. You mentioned that you don't understand homeopathy very well, and I realized that that was my problem too. Sure, I'm not happy with my progress with our family homeopath either, but in fairness to him, my lack of understanding of the way I was being treated may have also contributed to him switching remedies when he shouldn't have. By that I mean I may not have gauged progress realistically, or not have reported a complete symptom profile (inadvertently ommitting issues I thought weren't pertinent), panicking when I shouldn't have, etc. Ideally we want everything laid out for us with no room for misinterpretation (that's how I am, anyway), but it's not going to happen in the real world. So you can either follow along, trusting in what others tell you (at which point you're subject to the competence of whom you're trusting), or you can become more informed on your own. Even allopathy recommends you become an informed patient; why wouldn't this be even more the case with homeopathy? Based on members responses on this BB, there really are some people you can trust here. Follow other (& past) threads, read up on homeopathy, and decide for yourself.

Bottom line, the more informed you are, the better you become at assessing whether your homeopath is the real deal or a quack.

Good luck,

RF

Thank you so much for your responses. I really only went to this homeopath because he was also an M.D. and it was covered under my insurance. I feel like the first visit where he asked me a ton of questions was great but since I was going there for my menstrual cramps I didn't really talk that much about other things that were bothering me since my menstrual cycle was so bad. I didn't know to tell him everything and he didn't ask. It was my first time so I wasn't sure. The fact that he was first an M.D made me a little weary, I don't know why but if I could have afforded it I would have gone to this women who came highly recommended from India and I didn't cause I didn't have the money so I guess I have gotten some progress but I do believe you must trust your intuition and it says to me I am waist ing mt time. And since I just left the homeopath two days ago and I'm having really bad hot flashes I know I am not cured of anything. Maybe he is a good homeopath and I am not communicating well but I tend to think it's that he is not so informed and I am still learning.

I did make a call to the homeopath who I originally wanted to go see. She was referred to me by a good friend and I explained to her my situation and she said she practices classical homeopathy which I fell is similar to what he practices because she said she will give one remedy for a month and see how it works. Are there different types of homeopathy?

Danielle,

When you say one remedy for a month do yuou mean you were taking this on a daily basis?

Some may say a month meaning you take the remedy one time and check back in a month with the new symptom picture.

Also I think if you follow GM's advice you will be pleased. It is free and accurate.

GO FOR IT!!

I agree I should follow GM's advice but now I am wondering if there are different types of homeopathy. After reading everyone's posts I made a call to Sylvia Faddis a well respected homeopath who also teaches in NYC and she told me she is a classical homeopath. I didn't know if there was a difference. The homeopath I have been seeing has started me off on a remedy and depending on the remedy has told me to take the remedy 3, 30c's once a day until I go back to see him which is usually six weeks after the remedy is prescribed.
