Part 4, a few other things about Elliot and his parents.

He liked his baths warmer than babies are supposed to have them when he was very small, he would scream if the water was too cold for him. He has always loved water and can almost swim by himself . He does not like to be too warm and often kicks his bedding off. I don't think he is colour blind, but he sometimes gets his colours mixed up if he is tired, usually blue and green but can mix up other colours as well. His father is colour-blind.

Sometimes when he is woken from a nap during the day eg he has fallen asleep in the car he works himself up into a major crying episode. The only thing which works at this time is leaving him alone completely and he calms himself within minutes. Giving him cuddles and sympathy just makes him worse. This happens infrequently and I discovered the solution to this when he was a few months old and I was desperate to go to the loo - I put him back in his cot as he was just screaming inconsolably and I was about to wet myself . He stopped crying before I returned.

His father has asthma and excema and this affects lots of his extended family. Elliot is the only child in his fathers family to have been breastfed. His father has psoriasis (recently diagnosed) and this may be the source of the pain he has in his knee joints. His paternal grandfather recently had 3 heart attacks and a thrombosis.

I am usually healthy although there is late onset diabetes in my family. My father has a heart condition and diverticular disease. My mother has arthritis. I have psoriasis, which is triggered by stress. My brother has hayfever. I don't get hayfever, but oilseed rape will give me the symptoms. I had all the vacinations children I the UK had in the 1960's And 70's.

He does not like to have his teeth cleaned, this can be quite a battle. I sometimes resort to threats - like no bedtime stories if he won't let me clean them.

He sometimes ignores me even when I am in front of him and holding his hands trying to get his attention . He won't even make eye contact with me.

Thanks, will post more info if needed.

Will try to sort out my 'puter as per your instructions tomorrow.

Thanks

Question

Okay

We will try to comply with these instructions.

However, my son is about to go away to stay with our family over the summer (about 6 weeks )and I have very little control over what he eats or is exposed too.

He has grandparents who think he is being deprived if he he is not given chocolate to eat, and a family which thinks that homeopathy is questionable at best

Give these circumstances, do you think it is worth trying? I am more than willing to try, but I know I will be undermined by a family who take the approach that his nightime habits are just one of those things. And it is not them who have the broken sleep or all the extra washing to do when the bed is wet.

Wouldn't life be so much simpler if it could all be sorted out by a packet of pills from an allopathic doctor...

GM, this post is sounding more negative as I write. I am more than willing to follow the instructions and could do so up for about 3 weeks, but I hesitate to go through all of it - just to be made into the "bad guy" by our extended families (and very sceptical father) who might antidote the remedy.

Advice please .
