My four year old suffers from bad reactons to insect bites, especially mosquitoes although she has had reactions to spider bites as well. Can she be given treatment now in anticipation of mosquito season or do I wait until she is bitten? The area of the bite swells very large and turns brite red, this lasts for about 5 - 7 days. She always gets bit by the eye which sells almost shut and is then put on antibiotics in case of infection to the eye. She has no other allergies.

She is up to date on vaccines, had reaccuring ear infections as a baby no major illness. Was breastfed until 13mo. No food cravings or abnormal fears. She does have 2 mercury fillings already. Is very clever but overly sensitive to arguing, crowds, lots of activity around her. She tends to withdraw if there are a lot of people around. When it is one on one play with friends she is the boss. Her dad has same reaction to insect bites. If you need more info please ask. I always appreciate the help given here. Thank you all so much!

People who are allergic to insect bites or stings would do well to carry Apis Mell 30c and Ledum Pal 30C. Apis is for after the bite. It may be repeated in two hours, if real acute reaction then it could be repeated in fifteen minutes. Ledum is to help prevent bites. Take the Ledum when you come into an area where there are insects that bite. Also you may apply Ledum M.T. externally. It will give immediate relief in mosquito bites and stings of bees etc.

Question

I just want to verify. Last night we were out and my four year old got bit up by the mosquitoes (about 15 bites and she did have repellant on). Very itchy at night hard to sleep. swelled up at first has gone down a bit but lots of itching. Should I give the apis 30C? Would like to avoid any topical treatment as she has broken the skin with the itching and it would sting. Thanks for the help. Also in a situation like this would there be any aggravations or is that usually when there is deeper constitutional treatment? Just curious.

Thanks, was thinking along what could attract the insects..if going out in insect terrain, avoid sweets .
And do try apis.

For what it's worth, Staphysagria is like an insect magnet! One can literally be swarmed by insects while the person beside them is completely undisturbed. (Neither person wearing insect repellant.)

Funny little thing I learned while in Africa and they have BIG ol'mossies that make you itch like a mad person!

Lack of vit B will attract the mossies....so while there, someone (a relative) gave me some liquid b (I think it was b6..not sure)...and it worked like a charm...but then it could've been the booze we were drinking round the camp-fire!(lol)

Take care, Lisa

Yes it is worth trying giving her one dose Staphysagria 30. It does work on many people but not all.
