Greetings all.
I've been under the care of a homeopath for nearly a year now and I seriously considering finding another practitioner or trying another mode of treatment. My homeopath is highly recommended, has been practicing for many years and I we get along well. However, I am wondering if for some reason he can't get an accurate "picture" of my case or if homeopathics alone is not the answer for me or if I should just be more patient with him. I am hoping to get comments regarding my situation that will help me decide what action to take. The main things I wanted addressed when I went to my homeopath (in order of importance) are… 1) Low concentration and memory. Also, if I read technical things, I get easily tired and lose focus. 2) Physically very weak. I am approx. 6ft tall and weigh 185lbs but for example, when playing sports, I am easily "man handled" by guys smaller than me. Also, I am very aware of their normal strength and my abnormal weakness. 3) Low energy. I am usually tired and seem to have no zest for life. Sluggish is the best way to describe my movements in walking, talking and I would even say in thinking. 4) I lack self-confidence in many areas. Most noticeable to me is in my career. I feel I cannot possibly do another job where I would have new experiences, more responsibility and heaven forbid present anything to a group of people (like public speaking or present a sales proposal etc.) I feel I would crumble under the pressure. 5) My posture is bad. My neck and head sticks forward above my body and when I sit down, I am shaped like the letter "C." I am very slouchy and eventually end up sitting nearly on my back. 6) I catch colds easily and when I get them I take a long time to recover (about 2 weeks.) The past few years, I've been getting sinus pains and now they come when I catch cold. Sometimes I feel a bit of nausea as well with the sinus pains. Bronchitis is very common now when I catch colds. This is something that I never got when I was younger (I'm 36 now.) In general, any ailment or physical injury like sprains (usually my ankles) takes unusually long to recover from. The following are some of the things that I've noticed in my life that may or may not be relevant to my case. -I had bad acne as a teenager and I was on tetracycline for a number of years as treatment. (my face and back still gets pimples but not nearly as bad and I'm not on any medication for it now) -In my late 20's I had a bout of not too severe impotence for a couple of months -I didn't like using public washrooms and would hold a bowel movement until I got home -I have bad circulation and my arms and legs "fall asleep" if they are in an awkward position for several minutes. Also, my hands and feet are usually cold and very dry and I get huge flakes of dandruff. -My stomach is easily bloated usually after I eat a meal. I've stopped drinking orange juice and milk because of the reaction. -During school age, I got all of the "required" vaccinations. -Around the age of 12 years, I had to wear glasses and still do. -I bath every day and in my opinion, there appears to be a large amount of dirt floating on the water. I know the skin tries to get rid of what the body can't eliminate internally but it just seems like a lot. -About 7 years ago, an iridologist told me that she saw a problem with my liver and a possible problem developing with my prostate. -I only dream once in a while but when I do, the theme usually seems to be me trying to get away from something and never really succeeding. ( there may be more things I noticed but I don't want to go on too long and I can't remember everything right now any way) The following is a list of the remedies I've tried in order over a year and the results… 1) silica 200C (this and all the others were taken only twice, four hours apart. Remedies were taken approx. 3 weeks apart of each other.) Immediately I felt myself somehow taller or more erect. The affect only lasted a day. 2) Silica 1M. I felt no effect 3) Barytha Carbonic 200C. No effect 4) Thuya Occidentalis 200C. No effect 5) Lycopodium 200C. I felt better somehow. The next day I felt stronger. I didn't lift anything or play any sport but I just felt stronger. After the second day, things were back to normal except that my stomach began feeling "lighter" or not bloated. 6) Lycopodium 1M. No effect. 7) Ambra Grisea 200C. Absolutely no effect. This brings me up to today and the decision I have to make. Any help and response is much appreciated. I apologize if I've gone on too long and if any clarification is needed on any points, please let me know. Thanks again. |

I understand your quandary. I have been under the care of an experienced and highly recommended homeopath for nearly two years with no positive (or negative) results so far. I have been told that my case also presents a confusing "picture". However, I am willing to give homeopathy a bit more time to work its magic. I am certainly no expert in homeopathy but your problems seem to be the kind that homeopathy can help so I suggest you hang in there a little longer.
Good Luck |

Frank, im opposed to this, he shall absolutely not stick to that person, if he have not helped in a year, and thats regardless of his reputation, many "homeopats" has reputation, but thats not cause their good homeopats, their very good at public relations, at the cost of patients, and homeopathy.
And it can be as he tells, hes not able to help him cause of lack of ability to picture this type of probelm. What i can see from this case is the course of sulphur- calc carb/phos.. ------------------ Homeopat MNNH Geir E.T. GM this would be my viewpoint. Job description in stanza one is to heal the sick. If someone is treatable and not progressing then I'm not doing my job. If despite my best efforts this was the case I would level with the person and refer.
Things are more hazy here though. Maybe the present homeopath is not being open or just maybe the vitality is bad and needs time. Wouldn't talking to the current homeopath clarify which was the case? [This message has been edited by Frank Hicks (edited 02 June 2000).] |

Communicate with your present homeopath.
Does he have documented all the symptoms you origionally went in to see him with. If he reviews this list with you, you may be amazed to find that many of the symptoms are no longer present and that many are better and others have now surfaced. Sometimes a patient says that they are no better. However after doing this, they are very happy to see that they have made substantial progress, and that they had forgotten the extent of what the symptoms were. Hering's Laws: -Has there been healing from the deeper aspects to the more external ones? Has illness traveled from mental plane to physical such as skin? Do you see this happening? -Symptoms are cured in reverse order of how they progressed origionally. Is there any evidence of this? The latest symptoms go away first. Are your symptoms now older ones. -Healing progresses from the upper part of the body to the lower, or centre to outer, or from the head or chest out to the arms, legs or hands and feet. If this is what is happening then you are on solid ground and you will be able to judge correctly what is happening and if you are being helped. Without this knowledge you will be confused. it is typically good to stick with your practicioner, but keeping your log of remedies and potencies is essential if in fact you do decide to change.--however, you need to really analyze yourself, be honest, and divulge ALL information pertinent or otherwise to help find the simillimum; sometimes it could be that little piece that you are holding back that can bring closure to the case...even if it means humiliation, acceptence of psychological implications, or unveiling of self, if it is true cure that you seek--something is either missing, or your homeopath is out of tune. I realize that I'm an impatient person, (that's why I like homeopathy - I get results!) but a year seems like an awfully long time to go with little or no improvement.
Sometimes I feel like I'm taking one remedy or another all the time. Reading my journal is like reading a case history of "World's Most Accident Prone" or something. "Fell off roof, dislocated elbow. Arn 30. Swelling went down in 10 minutes. After 2 hours, bruising nearly faded." "Fell asleep in sun. Sunburn feels like it's glowing in the dark. Canth 6. Relief within 10 minutes. Woke up in agony, 4 hours later. Canth 6. Nearly healed by morning." "Accidentally dislodged hornet nest while cutting trees. Look like painful version of Pilsbury Doughboy..." You get the idea. |
