Question

Hi, What books are good that describe a lot of "mentals" symptoms? I only have a couple short ones and I dont know how to judge their accuracy as Im not a pro. I have "Hom. Heart & Soul" by Dr. Keith Souter and "Hom. Ped. Const. Types" by Paul Herscu which eventually after reading it constantly made me want to give up.And Boerickes MM. But Im looking for A LOT more INFO than these books. Can anyone recommend whats good with a LOT of mental info.? Or any websites where there might be more than a paragraph? Thanks!! LindaM.

Try Sankaran's "The Soul of Remedies" or George Vithoulkas' "Essences".

Also, you could try Philip Bailey's book on Homeopathic Psychology, however his book is based on his clinical experiences and I have heard people mention his information is not exactly accurate.

I have found, however, that the MM's are all I need and mentals can often give a false impression.

Another helpful series is presented by Catherine Coulter called Portraits of Homeopathic Medicines, which I have found helpful.

Best of luck.

Desktop Guide to Keynotes and Confirmatory Symptoms by Roger Morrison, M.D., is a compilation of symptoms from Dr. Morrison's studies with Vithoulkas. Others are from Kent, Nash and Lippe.

Synoptic Materia Medica by Frans Vermeolen was compiled as a summary for the Finnish and Irish Schools of Homoepathy. It also has a space at the end of each remedy to add your own findings.

Both these books highlight the modern mentals and are easy to follow. However they are not personality profiles like P.M. Bailey's. They are a good basis to start with.

If you really want a 'LOT' of information I suggest you get yourself Allen's Encyclopaedia of MM in 12 vols. These are the provings and have all the symptoms the provers had listed out. It ain't cheap but IMO is the best MM there is....

Thumbs up

Wow! Thanks, I never saw those on the shelf at the health food store. No wonder. Im a patient but just for my own personal reading Ive always been interested in psychiatry, and in this day and age almost everyone I know has profound mentals and not much physicals. But thats probably only natural in this toxic world of today.Ill be checking them out. LindaM.

The MM is not psychiatrical...it is like the other MM's but more comprehensive....(covers mental, emotional, physical).

Also, GM told me that using Synthetic by Barthel and Klunker, along with Allen's 2 Vols and 12 Vols...and Boericke and Kent - are the best to have....what one doesn't have - the other will, etc...

just thought this might help

Cool

Looking at what the questionner wants, I'd say Vithoulkas's Essences would be the best to start with. It's cheap, understandable to an intelligent non-practitioner, and can be ordered from Minerva Books in London.
