High cholesterol can have several causes

1) Familial tendency often associated with red heads

2) Your diet is high in butter, cream, fats, red meat etc

3) You have undiagnosed Hypothyroidism

4) have you tried eating OATS as a muesli for breakfast ????

Raw oats reduce cholesterol

Mix with bananas/ apples/ any fruit plus either skimmed milk or fruit juice

Eating Avacados will also reduce Cholesterol. I found this out when pregnant with 1st child - cholesterol shot up to 289!

Was advised by a friend who told me about a study done in Australia, around the same time, to eat avacados....I did it - and my cholesterol was back to normal within a 12 week period!

No. 2 on your list might have some argument. There are those who say too many carbohydrates cause high cholesterol and that a high protein and fat diet will lower the cholest. after a few weeks.

And while oats and bran may lower choles by pulling it out of the body, it may also take important minerals with it.

Just some things to balance out that other view, Pat. As for what happens to cholestrol after homeopathy is that it may change your appetite for the foods that may be creating the high choles????Or maybe you'd continue to have high choles., but it would not be a problem. Aren't some circles saying that cholest. isn't as important as they once thought in regards to the heart, etc.

My dad managed to reduce his cholesterol levels significalntly with no other dietary change than oat bran porridge in the morning. His family doctor was quite impressed by this.

There is a book about the benefits of oat bran (as opposed to rolled oats or oatmeal). If anyone is interested I will look up the reference.

I have heard monounsaturated oils such as olive oil or rapeseed oil will reduce cholesterol levels. Polyunsaturated fats (eg sunflower oil) do not increase the levels and saturated fats will increase it. The health benefits of oily fish for people with heart conditions are also being pushed now.
