This is an account not of myself but of a close friend. 3 years ago, he got carpal tunnel, which quickly spread to tendinitis, and then turned into fibromyalgia (maybe, but no one is quite sure). At the same time, he had been succesfully hiding a bi-polar disorder for many years, until he was hit with the physical trauma and his mind could no longer cope with both.
He started seeing a homeopath and making some diet changes as his only course of treatments. The last thing he wanted was Morphine and Lithium. It has been 1 1/2 years since he started the treatment and he is doing so well. Mentally he is evening out remarkably well, and the remedies help with that amazingly. He is creating again and actually able to control his impulses. Physically he is much better, he no longer uses a cane and he is able to function throughout the day. I guess I'm writing this because so often people see mental ilness as a road with no cure, only palliation. With homeopathy, he is moving slowly but steadily towards cure. It is a long lonely road, doctors list you as non-compliant, some family members see you as uncooperative and don't understand. The stigma of mental illness is everywhere. Even some homeopaths will say there is no cure for serious mental illness. Luckily I never had any as teachers. I will post here to let you know of his progress and success. So often we don't share these great successes, but watching him always gets me through times of doubt with my own practice and patients. Eleanor |

Hi,
An update on my friend. He is doing well. Mentally he is getting alot better. He now has an art show open, and he completed his first movie. This is a guy who never completed anything in his life due to intense fears and well bi-polar. He hasn't had hallucinations in months, and he is able to recognize and stop some of the behaviour. Many of his impulses have decreased substantially. He does have some setbacks but he's learned to recognize the signs and he takes his remedy again. He just now got in to see a psychiatrist, he wanted an official diagnosis. They did diagnose him with bi-polar, but said that unless he went on drugs he could no longer use their services. That is frustrating but not unexpected. It is sad that the psychiatric pfrofession has become such a slave to medication, and hence a joke. It is interesting to watch, because as he evens out mentally (which he finds scary )and is better able to control his impulses, his physical pain is flaring. We are working through it,but he gets frustrated. We are working closely with his homeopath. He is a really smart guy, and now that many of his road blocks are gone, he is starting to really excel. I'm glad people enjoy reading these success stories. I will post periodic updates of his progress. Eleanor |
