Cold milk is what we usually advise.

Along with plain toast or crackers dipped in, could make a good couple of meals till things settle down.

Dear Curew. Symbolic the throat area represents; expression,to be vocal, this feeling you have might be related to this.
Acid reflux/ Heartburn is not from wrong food intake. Its most often from severe prolonged stress. Taking antacids are not a good idea as it only hides the symptoms doing nothing for the actual problem.
Think about half this planets population and the varied spicey foods they eat on a daily basis with no one getting 'heartburn'. It may also be a symptom of heartproblems, need to have that checked soon as possible. Sometimes the onset of a heart attack happens months prior to the initial event one of those symptoms is 'heartburn'. Again i stress taking antacids will only cover up the 'real' problem.
Since this is a homeopathic forum my suggestion is to make a proper appt. with a classical homeopath near you soon as possible.
Drinking milk might work But again it might not(if it reocures you have a more complicated systemic problem),toast absorbs some of this acid but its only palliation, ginger is for nausea not heartburn (ginger is a 'heating herb' not good for 'heat problem'.)

Natrum phos 3x,5 tablets thrice daily before every meal shall set you right in a few days.
It is also better to walk a few kilometers before going to sleep this will help the digestion.

Default Heartburn - help

With reference to the heartburn problem, as per the symptoms explained, the remedy which will suit is Causticum. You may take Causticum 30 1 pill each in the morning, evening and next day morning, dissolved in 2-3 spoons of water. This should give relief to the problem.
