I always give very strict instructions that they are only to be taken when absolutely necessary and to return when they no longer seem to be working for a review of the remedy.
In one case where I gave a miasmatic remedy, the client did not need another remedy for nearly a year. She took the pillules "as needed" - while the original remedy was able to act deeply and without interruption or possible overstimulation for it's full duration. She also comes for bodywork, either Reiki. Polarity or massage all of which I believe complement the homeopathic treatment.
Read Molecules of Emotion by Candice Pert - there are some good bits in there about the body/mind connection.
First of all I read the above book and yes, it was good so thankyou for that. Secondly I thought I would copy and post part of a lecture my father gave recently at a homeo college recently regarding Sac lac:
PLACEBO

Placebos are normally sugar of milk pilules or water and alcohol in the case of drops that have no medication in them whatsoever. You may ask “what is the purpose of something that has no curative power at all?” It follows that human nature, through conditioning, will feel ‘let down’ if they are not given medication on a daily or even hourly basis. This is how it is with allopathic drugs so why should it not be so with homoeopathic remedies?

The answer lies in the fact that according to the disease and the potency some homoeopathic remedies need to be taken once only or once a week or even once a month. To effect a pathological change, e.g. with nosodes, only one dose is often recommended as the action of this one dose can continue for days or weeks and does not bear repetition. To ignore this advice might invite an unpleasant reaction to the detriment of the patient’s wellbeing and, of course, to the detriment of homoeopathy by an unforgiving patient.

The patient, in all cases, must be advised clearly to follow instructions and be given the placebo on the understanding this is continuing medication or a variation of the original remedy. The power of the human mind comes into play here and it has been said, no doubt with some veracity, that the patient’s belief system partly paves the way to a cure. Remember...energy follows intent...

Regards,
Fiona

I think that's so true in many areas, and yes, I can see the value of a placebo in some circumstances.

I think intention is a huge part of any therapy. Craniosacral therapy which I practice. I recently attended an intensive Shiatsu course in London and they also talked about intent being a large part.
