and people who deck out their front yards with cardboard cutouts of reindeers and long trails of fake snow, so that at night when the Xmas lights go on, it's quite pretty in a guady sort of way.

Funny how Christmas lights always seem to be so comforting and pretty until the holiday--and sad so quickly after.

There is one house nearby which decorates with a spotlight and painted wooden Peanuts figures from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I love to drive by with the Vince Guaraldi cd playing "Christmastime is here", just to see the Pig Pen figure, with his rising cloud of dust, holding his present.

I'm not tired of that one yet.
