Default Ideas on expanding homeopathic community

Hi all,

I do some office work for my homeopath, and has presented me with a new project to work on.

She wants to start expanding the local homeopathic community, but is unsure exactly how that will happen. She wants me to brainstorm, and I thought perhaps some might have some ideas for me on this site.

Being the idealist that she is, her idea is to shift consciousness. I need to put that into action. Her ideas are starting a monthly lecture series, inviting guest speakers, education, starting study groups that meet once a month and would help people learn how to best use and get the most out of their remedies, potluck dinners. My ideas have been getting local alternative healers together to begin a dialogue, and organizing a 'health fair' that would involve many local healers and would take place over a weekend.

I believe this area (Portsmouth NH) has the potential to be a center for alternative health and healing. I also have the strong idea that people don't know what kind of healing is possible, and am coming from that perspective when I think about this project.

It's the beginning of a really exciting idea and if anyone cares to share their thoughts with me, I would appreciate the dialogue.

~Thank you~

dear HM

Where i live in southern california, there is already a big alternative healing community, has been since the 1960's. The process of ongoing communication to the public is manifested by alternative healers such as homeopaths giving short lectures at various places such as esoteric bookstores, drugstores that supply homeopathic remedies, organic foodstores, community centers.
Once the public gets used to monthly set scedules of guest lecturers it's easy to move forward and book ahead. These homeopaths that lecture get the bennefits of 'new patients'.

Default building an online presence

Hey,
I'm pretty new to all this, but something you might want to try is to help your homeopath develop an online presence by posting in forums like these, generating a blog (it doesn't really have to be updated daily...), creating a functional website that encourages repeat visitors.

Additionally, as more and more of the organic foods are being sold by superstores *ugh* like Sam's Club and Walmart health food stores will need to change their focus from providing organic foods to providing organic information and processes. Does your homeopath have good connections with the health food stores in your area? Could s/he provide some training for some of the store workers occasionally? Would it be possible to develop some sort of certification program whereby new employees at health food stores could come to your classes to get some basic foundational workings of homeopathy and then be better able to promote the product?

Just some ideas from a newbie...

Hi DB, thanks so much for the reply and ideas.

I love the idea of educating the health food store staff about homeopathy. That's a great idea. Having a closer alliance with the local health food stores in general is an idea I will definitely mull over.

I'm not sure if she is interested in getting online -- she definitely is not looking for new patients (she is really busy and gets plenty of / too much business by word of mouth), and I think she is afraid that by promoting 'herself', she will attract more business than she can handle. I think this is the difficult thing -- by educating more people about homeopathy, how will she maintain her balance? I think getting online is a great idea for education in general, but I wonder how she would do that without bringing attention to herself.

She wants to contribute to the movement (consciousness movement, alternative health movement, spiritual movement, awareness movement, there are many words for it) and create a community without being the 'head' of the community -- she thinks multiple people heading it is safer, for many reasons. I think she is wise enough to know that, for one, she can't let it sap all of her energy.

Thanks for the ideas!!!!! I would love to hear more, from you or anyone else.
