Some of the other links are great, that David has posted. But, this one is not so great. Mammograms can be harmful, and are not very 'accurate'.

Please research this particular topic before blindly subscribing to mammograms en massé.

Happy Christmas to all .

Everything Lisa has said is true.

However: in many places throughout the world, particularly here in North AMerica, those without means will go undiagnosed and untreated. Mammograms are the sole diagnostic procedure which might be accessible, if not for the money issue. So, if someone funds that accessibility, then at least there is a possibility that someone who is ill can be diagnosed and treated.

And the thread needs bumping.

I have a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2 places from a mammogram. She has had biopsies and they have confirmed this although she can feel no lumps. I asked her how many mammograms she has had in her life and she said lots - she is 64 and in UK you get pestered to have one from age 50. My friend is having a mastectomy and reconstruction on Dec 30th and I am suppporting her with remedies.
I am of the same ilk as Lisa and I have always refused to have a mammogram as I think the trauma to the breast is enough to cause one especially if you are not well endowed.
