Hi everyone,
Im new to this board but am in a desperate situation with my 4 year old shepherd.
We live in a small town in Mexico and vet care here is not really a priority here. Long story short- my dog was hit by a pickup truck almost two weeks ago. I had every vet in a 50 mile radius work on him. He had a punctured lung and numerous lacerations. He was unable to lie down for 4 days and did not eat for almost one week. After one week he started to vomit blood and had blooy stools.
I was fortunate to find an American vet visiting here and performing free spays and neuters and took my dog to see him. This vet informed that my dog was bleeding due to the injections of anti-inflamatories he was being given, which had caused a bleeding ulcer. We took him off all meds and he has since improved.
Today however, he has developed a huge lump on his front leg around the area of an injury that previously had stitches. It appears to be causing him a great amount of pain. I dont want to give him anything because of his stomach situation. He is eating and taking water normally. He clearly does not feel well. Unfortunatley, the vet has since returned to the states and I am leary of taking him to the vet here.
Does anyone have any guesses as to what this lump could be and what the heck I should do for him now?
Thank you so much for any info or advice you can give me. He has suffered a great deal and I just dont know what else to do for him.
