Default Medicine in the Quran

A google search revealed this page:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=med...le+Search&meta= with a list of many many links.

Also on that page are many other pages (at the bottom) --- endless references to medicine in the Quran.

Medicine of the Prophet:
http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpo...edicine.html#9
Natural Healing with medicine of the Prophet:
http://www.pearlpublishing.com/forewordmed.shtml

and this one is particularly good:
http://www.islamicmedicine.org/

And many many more references can be found by doing a very simply search.
Note the use of the word MEDICINE

I rest my case.

Default matter of belief

faith healing or some of those substance which are rated as good for health like HONEY which has been repeatedly mentioned in Quran as it carries health giving properties and olive oil etc
though i have not read all that neither i have interest in such claims but i feel these are generalised items and not specialised
salt is a generalised item but nat mur 6x is a specialised medicine
i hope some knowledgeable person must throw some light on that
regards

I am glad that you rest your case, othewise you would have made a big fool of your self

Did you even bother to read further down the links that you have mentioned or just used the "valuable" source and then paste the linke here. I visited the links and nothing is there, as expected, regarding Medicines in Quran.

I challenge you and everyone else who thinks there are medicines in Quran, try to bring out ONE, just ONE single medicine mentioned in Quran

I already have stated there are substances with some curative properties for everything & everyone like honey, but there are no medicines. Period.

Do you think the word "Islamic Medicine" means "Medicines mentioned in Quran" ???

Thanks for posting all those links, Lisa. I find it really interesting to learn of the use of cupping for healing treatments. I've seen this done by many practitioners when I lived in Toronto: there are 4 "chinatowns" there, and I'd often go with my friend when she sought out really good acupuncturists on the Spadina avenue area. I wonder if this is a very similar treatment, using shaped glass vessels and a lit candle that's extinquished under the glass vessel to create a vacuum above certain points on the body. If it is, wouldn't that be interesting?

Of course, honey has been considered a healing substance for as long as humanity has existed. People still use it as a medicine all over the world...so I'm not surprised to see it listed in scripture.

Anyway, thanks for posting the very useful links.

Look up the word 'medicine'. Then look up 'medicinal'. Any substance used for a medicinal purpose is medicine. Whether it's good medicine or bad medicine is another topic altogether.
Case is closed. There is nothing more to discuss about this topic as far as I'm concerned.
(You can't bear for a woman to be right or to show you up. You must be a really angry and sad person. I pity you.)

Divina - I've heard of cupping before, but don't know much about it. It was used in the old days quite a lot - and I had the impression it wasn't very effective...but like I said, I don't know a lot about that. Unfortunately time is tight for me at the moment; babies on the way, floors and kitchens need to be refurbished and kids need caring for.......but if you find anything of interest on cupping, I might get a chance to peek in soon...it'd be interesting to find out more.

You are right, I am angry, sad and can't bear for anyone to show me wrong, especially a woman

The posters who know me personally will be laughing and rolling on the floor after reading this about me

It occurs to me that most "scriptures" will include guidelines for preservation of the group, including rules about dietary observance and "medicine".

The Jewish dietary laws of Kashruth are based on the idea that certain foods will create difficulties for the group if they are consumed without proper preparation and storage...hence the restrictions on eating pork and shellfish...which would be very difficult to keep "fresh". Serious illnesses would put the population at risk, so foods known to be "tricky" were automatically listed as ones to avoid. It is interesting to see the many commonalities in the dietary laws of Muslims and Jews.

Well, they are both, afterall - of semitic origin. So it's not that surprising is it?

Not at all.

Christianity has semitic origins, too. But dietary laws are very different--and extremely varied--there!
