Hello
My mother is 75 and she suffers from "mechanical" arthritis of the spine. The specialist has said that there is no cure for it other than replacing the spine which is not possible. The only help he can offer is that of pain management with strong pain killers or eventually epidural injections in the spine. My mother suffers in that she is in a lot of pain whatever she does, stand, sit, walk and even lying in bed. The pain moves from the toes up to the lower back area. It is like a sciatic pain, but the nerve is not pinched, but more irritated by the bone (s) touching it. Does anyone know whether homeopathy could possibly be used to help her? Thanks Sheila |

Hi Sheilanne
Homeopathy can certainly help with arthritis. Your mum needs to see a homeopath though- it's not adviseable to self prescribe on this one! If you let me know in which area of the UK she lives I will let you have names of registered homeopaths. |

If the degenerative changes have been occured then it is very difficult to treat with homeopathy whether you see a homeopath or not. Yes you can manage the condition and rehablitiate your mother with homeopathy at some level. Checkout whether your mother is RA positive or not. If she is RA+ then it is almost impossible to treat her. But I hope and pray to God that this is not so. One factor is inheritance sometime this happens due to inherited disease.
Non=Homeopathic Suggestions but have found good result in similar cases. Take one dose of Thuja cm at start. Repeat the same dose after two weeks. In the next week take a dose of Calc F cm and repeat the same dose after two weeks... in alternate form Mix 15 drops of ledum pal and guaicum mother tincture. Take this mixture for three times. Avoid Cold application.. Do light exercise.. use worm water... Sleep on flat hard bed This applicaiton will slightly palliate the symptoms of your mother. |

Secret agent
Mechanical arthritis is usually a term used to describe Osteoarthritis.(also referred to as wear and tear and degenerative arthritis) Rheumatoid arthritis is very different and is an auto immune disease affecting the synovial membrane of the joint. I do believe that both conditions can be helped with good constitutional prescribing and attention to diet. The regime you suggest could in fact be damaging to the patient. Many arthritis patients have totally different modalities and generalisation should be avoided ! [ 03. October 2003, 18:50: Message edited by: Hoppitt415 ] |
