the well from which you took the ink makes a hollow, "I'm empty" sound...much like the sound a shell makes when you put it to your ears.

you've discovered the secret to immortality, carol. if you get scared half to death, you only have halfway to death to go. then, if you get scared half to death again, you've still got a quarter of the way to death to go. scared half to death again, and still an eighth of the way to go.

soooooo, the secret is to get scared half to death constantly ... that way, you'll never die!
