Yes, I believe there might be some difficulty for a new user. Typically we should add symptoms right from the case notes (select the needed text and right-click it), and then attach repertory rubrics/ Materia Medica extracts to it. This might take time to get used to, but it's well worth the toil due to its classical nature, really helps to analyze the case.
