Default Gerd

Hi,

I have a 6 month old little boy with GERD (Acid Reflux) and was wondering if anyone knows of any homeopathic remedies for it? He is on 2 prescriptions right now but I am leary about the side effects.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kim

Hi Kim,
ONe of the commonest remedies indicated is Calc Phos.
BUT there are a few other remedies depending on his complete presentation of symptoms. I personally would prefer to look at this whole picture before suggesting a remedy.
Eg: What are the details of this complaint, what makes it worse or better, when do you notice it more often? hat are the other symptoms that you notiice that are not directly realted to it - eg mood, crying, appetite, position, etc.
What are his sleeping patterns? stools, perpiration, tongue coating, feeling hot or cold...
HOW was your pregnancy, mental state during pregnancy, problems during pregnancy.
What was you delivery like?
What are the childs emotional responses to you or to other people.

So its best to have him seen by a homeopath so that all these details may be taken into account and the correct "similimum" given.
HE would need just 2-3 doses of an accurate remedy to correct this.

IF you don't a homeopath locally that you can go to, then you could try to get help online.
Warm regards,
dr. leela

Dr. Leela,
See my answers in red.

"BUT there are a few other remedies depending on his complete presentation of symptoms. I personally would prefer to look at this whole picture before suggesting a remedy
What are the details of this complaint, throwing up, sometimes projectile, sometimes just spit up. At it's worst upwards of 15 times per day. Arching his back while nursing, moaning like his throat hurts
what makes it worse laying him flat right after eating, too much tummy time
or better, elevating him after eating for at least 30 minutes, small frequent feeds, weekly chiropractor visits (3x per week)
when do you notice it more often? It's all of the time
hat are the other symptoms that you notiice that are not directly realted to it - eg mood, crying, appetite, position, etc.
What are his sleeping patterns? usually no more than 30-40 minutes at a time during the day. Nights are better, but he has been getting up 3 & 4 times per night between 8 PM and 5 AM.
stools, greenish yellow
perpiration, ?
tongue coating, milk tounge
feeling hot or cold... normal I guess, I have nothing to compare him too
HOW was your pregnancy, Normal, we do have the RH factor
mental state during pregnancy, fine after the first 3 months, worried a lot about miscarriage since I had had 3 previous ones
problems during pregnancy. None
What was you delivery like? about 5 hours, pushed for 30 minutes
What are the childs emotional responses to you or to other people". He is good around everyone.

Hope this helps. His Chiro told me to give him Belladona. I am concerned that they don't dissolve right away and he is only 6 month old.

Kim

Hi Kim,
You could just crush a couple of pills and put them on his tongue.

What is his most comfortable position while sleeping?
Has he had any problems with stools in the past?
How does he react to heat?
What does the vomit look like?

BElladonna does not seem indicated.

What is his most comfortable position while sleeping? So far his back, his ped says that he is still too young to sleep on his tummy (SIDS)
Has he had any problems with stools in the past? he doesn't go every day, about every other day or every third day. And it used to be the yellowish looking breastfeeding poop, now it's mostly green. He is formula suplemented.
How does he react to heat? Doesn't seem to mind it. He is indoors most of the time at daycare but if we are out and about and it's hot out or the car is really hot when I put him in it he doesn't complain.
What does the vomit look like? Mostly curdled milk, lately it's been very thick and acidy smelling. So thick that he has been choking on it Sometimes it looks just like straight milk.

A chiropractor is NOT a homeopath. Please see a well qualified classical homeopath unless Dr Leela comes up with something definite.

Right, Kim, I think you can give him a dose of Podophyllum 30C. Repeat again after a couple for days if the improvement is less than 50% at that point.
HE should do well.
