Angry

Hello folks,

Been away for a while doing the baby thing. And boy, I need some suggestions!

I have an unhappy 2 mo old-- and it should go w/o saying that the whole family is pretty unhappy when she'sscreaming too

The pregnancy wasn't too bad. Relatively speaking. Vomiting/nausea for 5mos, an excellent 2nd trimester, and rough third. Third difficult due to joint/ back pain. All weight was centered in the abdominal area, hence the strain. Chiropractic and accupuncture greatly relieved. Stress in the first trimester due to financial insecurity and dh's jobs: away much and then changed to an uncertain sales position. Lack of sleep and active other children caused uneven and low tolerance in last trimester. Accupucture addressed all these concerns, but only temporary reprieves.

Birth was good. At home and very quick due to positionning exercises. 4 hours noticeable labor; 1 1/2 hours hard labor. Sudden transition before midwife's arrival-- but neither hub nor I lost control (were praying to Yahweh in a mighty way though!) One topical, small tear, scant bleeding. All other factors great. Harsh cramping following, but excellent nursing/milk supply.

Average weight and length, Apgar 10. First week very sleepy, but after our troubles began. Lots of burping, some spitting up of milk curds, and much wind. Only she has a dreadful time getting it out, must "work" on it for hours some times. BM's irregular- maybe every 3 days (and cries often while passing it). Stool appears shiny/slimy like gelatin; not as other breastfed stools I've seen.

I wonder about food allergies since my hub's family has some. I've reduced the cow's milk to nearly nothing (but substitutes are garbage). Did an elimination period for goat's milk and she seems to have no reaction to that Most docs here have refused to test her, saying she is too young. All I get so far is to comfort her, lower distractions/noises and swaddle. Castor oil wraps (w/hot water bottle) help a little as does Hyland's (Standard Homeopathic Co.) Colic tabs. I say a little though-- neither truly provide full relief.

Oh, temperment too-- she seems angry much of the time, with all the straining except when she's feeling well, then very quiet, content and a little cooing. Sleeps on her side when nursing at night, sleeps on belly during day. "Asks" to go to bed, emphatic crying for after dinner nap and bedtime. Sleeps pretty well (except waking 2-3 times to nurse) close to me at night.

Hope this isn't too extensive. We'd greatly appreciate some direction or referral. We'd love to really love this baby, but she's so draining that we aren't able to do that yet. I'm not sure how to lower the stress with the almost constant crying etc.

Be well. Thank you in advance.

I forgot to mention that she's had 3 incidents of oral thrush. And it's in her diaper area too. Nystantin seemed too harsh, I D/C'd that (caused more gas pain)and am using Gentian Violet on my breasts and her mouth, fungal cream on her diaper area. She's given me the thrush, nursing, once, but I seem clear right now.

For the colic try one Nux Vom 30 dissolved in milk. Report back please.

Hello Folks,
Good news. THe Nux V seemed to work great. You may have been speaking of 30X, but all the health store had was 30C. I was desperate enough to try that. The following day she was just as fussy or maybe a bit more then peaceful, chatty on Sat, Sun and today. Passing more gas on her own, without as much crying. YEAH! Hooray! The only thing is, that she appears to be more wakeful, not sleeping soundly during naps or the night these past few days. She does have a head cold; it could simply be that. I am wondering if the remedy could have anything to do with that though. ??

GM, I got the Calc C. Did you suggest this as a help for dealing with stress? I just went off coffee a few days ago... so wanted to wait a bit to give remedy a good trial. A bit off topic, but what's so important about abstaining from coffee? It's seems obvious to me not to have it near to a time of taking a remedy (since the smell is so strong). Just curious.

Pleased the Nux Vom worked well!! It was the 30C that I used. It is possible that the remedy might have brought out the cold which is toxins being released so don't worry about it. The lack of sleep may also be the remedy at work but this should settle down. Thanks for letting me know how you got on.

Calc c is the remedy for you,it will take both your problems, nv is only a acute, a palliation, use one dose 20, once.
Ricky may be as pleased as she like with her palliation, it dont cure!

Hello all.

Well, GM, you were right about the NV. It seemed to help for a few days, then we wereback where we started.

I didn't understand that you were reccomending the Calc C for me to take-- and it would pass through breastmilk for baby. Took this 4 days ago. I didn't notice any change for the first day. Except I was just as cranky and stressed (baby kept crying). Then the following day she seemed more content, less crying and had a normal stool!!!!!!!!! With onlt a bit of effort (no distress).

Her basic temperment is still whiney, high need. Maybe that's just the way she's made?? This seems to be happening only at key times: hunger, fatique, lonliness. I can accept that.

The major problem we're encountering now is that she's not sleeping soundly-- waking a lot with noises, passing gas etc. I'm not getting much sleep consequently. It's pretty difficult to be cheerful when I'm so exhausted. Is this a by-product of the remedy? I had begun taking a Wild Yam supplement when I went off coffee (for the energy). I've taken that for the past year successfully, and had neglected to refill it during the last 2 months. I thought that might be causing the waking, but stopped taking it and baby is still wakeful.

The other concern is the thrush. Our pediatrian said to ignore hers (in her mouth), and focus on excellent hygiene for my breasts (cleanse often with white vinegar dilution or melaleuca oil). That may be ok, but she continues to "grow" this and it's painful to my breasts as I nurse. Should I just get a pharmaceutical to deal with that?

Oh. A sidenote. I have been annoyed with sore, dry/cracking lips for months since being pregnant. I arose today and my mouth looked and felt perfect!! A nice gift

Thanks again for any help or referral.
