Hello ,
Thank you so much for your response. Here is the additional information you requested;
1. Color of mucus.
Whitish-green, when she had her cold - at the moment she has no cold, but complains of "something in her left ear", but no pain in the ear.
2. Her thirst level
Quite thirsty - likes juice and water.
3. does she like being indoors or outdoors?
She likes both - loves to go out, but is happy indoors also. It depends on her mood.
4. How does she behave when she is down with ear ache?
Very fussy, irritable, wakes up at nights, wants mother to hold and comfort and nurse.
Nurses often during the day - just for comfort, not really drinking.
5. What seems to calm her down when she has ear aches?
Nursing, cuddling, her favourite stories or music, homeopathic medicine (Calc.Phos)
I'd like to add that my granddaughter is normally a very sunny, contented child, not unduly fussy or demanding. She is a little fussy about food and has a poor appetite. She weighs 23lbs (at age 22months). She is quite satisfied with what she is given (toy/story/etc.), plays on her own, but loves company (of any age). Thank you.

The child is two years old, and has suffered earache three times, the first two times she was given penicillin.and the third time Bactrim (a sulpha drug). What would be a good homeopathic remedy? She is slim, loves sweets, is prone to colds with a great deal of mucus, and has had a bad bout of flu, does not care for margarine ( we do not give her butter or cow's milk products because her mother is a juvenile diabetic and it has been found that giving cow's milk to children increases the risk of getting diabetes). Thank you.

Dear Mrinalini,

Seems to fit Pulsatilla, except the thirst level does not fit in.

Usually the Pulsatilla children are not thirsty.

How does she compare in her drinking with other kids of her age group?

So can you please answer some more questions, if you dont mind:

6. When she has a cold or ear infection, have you noticed if she salivates?
7. Also during this time, is she very chilly ?
8. You had mentioned that she is fussy about food. What are the foods that she likes, and likewise what she doesn't.
9. Is she fond of water? Please explain.

Take care.

Any spots on nails? Or wrong with nails? When did this start? After vaxinations? Whats the medical historie?
Any cravings for particular food items, or aversion, or aggravations from food?

Hello Mother-of-two!
Thanks once more for your response. I've answered your further questions as best I could;
6. When she has a cold or ear infection, have you noticed if she salivates?
Ans: She does not salivate particularly when she only has an ear infection. During a cold, she does seem to swallow more often.
7. Also during this time, is she very chilly ?
Ans: No, she is not. In general, she likes being warmly dressed, though not overly warm.
8. You had mentioned that she is fussy about food. What are the foods that she likes, and likewise what she doesn't.
Ans: She has a small appetite, and infrequently eats a large meal. Her likes and dislikes seem to change and sometimes switch places. She seems to enjoy variety in her meals, though she likes to eat certain favourite foods very often, until they are not a favourite anymore. At the moment, she likes strawberries, grapes, watermelon, sweet biscuits, savoury biscuits, bread sticks, chicken, cherrios, oatmeal, rice, pasta, lentils,soy-based immitation meats, runny egg-yolk. She likes mildly-spiced or herbed food (esp. garlic and ginger). She eats a little of tofu, green veggies, melons, soy milk, beans, margerine, banana. She dislikes soy-based yoghurt and cheese, hard cooked eggs, jello.
9. Is she fond of water? Please explain.
Ans: She drinks little water. Infrequently, she drinks upto 8oz at night. She loves juices (orange/apple), sparkling water, and can drink 8oz at a time, when hungry.

Thank you once more.

Dear GM,

Thank you for your response. Here are the answers to your qustions:
Any spots on nails? Or wrong with nails? Ans: Her nails are normal.
When did this start? After vaxinations? Whats the medical historie?
Ans: Her first ear infection occured at age 7 months. She had a severe cold, no fever, terrible earache with this one, and cried uncontrollably until medicated with antibiotics (amoxycillin) and pain killers. The second ear infection occured at age 19months. This time she had no pain, her cold was over, and she simply complained of something in her ear. This was treated with amoxycillin (unsuccessful), then zithromax(successful). The 3rd was at age 21 months. She had a 2-week-long cold, no fever, no pain; it was treated with bactrim (successfully). She is prone colds.
She has received vaccinations from birth (she has completed the APA recommended vaccines list upto age 18months). She has received vaccines TaP, HIB, IPV,HepB, MMR. Any cravings for particular food items, or aversion, or aggravations from food?
Ans: Please refer to reply to Mom-of-two. At the moment, she loves sweet biscuits, strawberries, grapes. Hates soy-based yoghurt, cheeses, jello. I have not noticed any food-related aggravations, though she has keraatosis pilaris since age 10months.
Thanks once more,
Mrinalini

I would give one dose sulphur x200, monitor and wait, a month, and see if theres a new remedy under this, but i dont think so.
Its scanty info, but it may be vaxines thats the cause, if not, clear symptomes of either calc, phosp, or tuberculinum will appear under sulp.

PS, the sulpha preparates may be the cause to the keratosis, so sulphur is the rigth choice her.
Bell and carb an, viola tri, is also mentioned under thick skin, but is of no value, since they do not adress the cause, sulphur does that.

Yes, I agree. Sulphur would definitely be my first choice.
Dear Mrinalani, please have her take one dose of Sulphur, and report after 3~4 weeks for any changes. Please note her skin condition too.
