My 6yo has enlarged tonsils and has breathing difficulties while sleeping. She seems to stop breathing for 6-10 seconds then gasps for air. She doesn't have a sore throat and although the tonsils are enlarged they don't look infected. I would really hate to have them removed surgically and would appreciate any homeopathic advice we could try at home. Thanks in advance.

Hi Simone.Thanks for responding.
My daughter is very strongwilled, good sense of humour, imaginative, intelligent, sensitive to feelings,(also has sensitive skin, very fair complexion)quite shy but has become more open in the last 6-8 months. We first noticed the tonsils were enlarged about a month ago but she has been having breathing difficulties during sleep for about 3-4 months now. We have been trying a new "parenting" approach for about that long now, allowing her more respect in regard to making decisions about everything from what she wants to eat(so far it has been things she was formerly deprived of ie.more processed foods, sugar etc.)to when she is ready for sleep. As a result we are having more turmoil as a family generally but we see her developing more confidence and more ability to seek common preferences to problems so on the whole the family is much happier. She does get 10-11 hours of sleep per night. She is very slightly overweight for her size and is moderately active. She had chicken pox mid July with very high fevers leading up to the rash and an MD examining her at the time noticed her throat was red and thinking it was strep throat prescribed antibiotics. She said her throat was not sore at all. That was the first time she had antibiotics, She never has ear infections and seems to have good immunity ie. she gets a mild fever from time to time but seldom has colds, maybe twice a year.Other then that she is very healthy.Hope this helps...I am new to homeopathy so I am not sure what you need to know. Please tell me if you need more information, thanking you in advance, regards,Kahlo. |

She is not shy in the extreme but rather prefers to talk only after she gets to know the person for a bit. She learns at home in a child-led way. Yes she is reading and writing probably slightly above her grade level.
This is the first time we have noticed any problems with her tonsils. |

Kahlo,
If you want further advice, might I suggest you contact GM (Geir), who used to visit this BB frequently. I told him about your case and he has offered to help out (free of charge, I believe). His email address is getm@eunet.no Best of luck, Simone |
