My 7 month old son has gastroesophageal reflux since birth. I am just beginning to learn about homeopathy. Has anyone heard of any success in treating reflux in babies using homeopathy? I am desperate to end my baby's suffering and am searching out all alternatives at the moment.

Was the child born naturally?
If not, this is a chiropractic case.
More info would have been nice, its hard to prescribe on so little.
Asa foetida could be an option, but i cant say for shure.
It can also be a reaction to the milk, if its mothers, remember that all you eat goes throug to the child.
A case analysis is needed.

OK. Here is more info. My son was born naturally. I am breastfeeding. I already tried cutting dairy out of my diet. He is on Zantac. Tried Propulsid, but it made him reguritate more forcefully. Before Zantac, he used to cry inconsolably for hours at random times day or night and wanted to be held all the time. On Zantac, he is better, but still demands almost constant attention, sleeps very little, and still regurgitates then reswallows. The Zantac has also given him the side effect of chronic diarrhea. He doesn't like to be confined, as in car seats, baby swings or strollers. He is a good nurser and has gained weight well. AS of 5 months old, we have attempted to start him on solids, but he hasn't tolerated anything well, including rice cereal. He loves to eat, but then screams and has lots of gas for hours afterwards. This is not common for reflux babies-- whom docs normally start early on solids. Wouldany other info be helpful?

A little more information on what makes it better and worse and when would really help - is the baby breast fed or formula or combination? I had a similar problem with my second son - so I really do sympathise - I could have taken shares out in the incontinence pad and laundry companies....I went through every formula milk on the market - the only one to succeed was Nanny Goats milk formula. Corroborated by two other mother friends with similar problems. If its milk related, you just might find calc or aethusa helpful. Other than that, its definitely worth taking the baby to a homoepath for a proper assessment.

Looks like a chamomilla child.
Is the stool souer, greenish?
Discoloration of face, esp one one side, when angry or in pain?
Must the child be carried all the time?
And, santac, that must go.

Yes, loose, greenish stool since on Zantac. He used to need to be carried all the time. Now he needs to be attended to most of the time; sometimes being held, but sometimes as long as I am just sitting with him, he is ok. He rarely will play on his own like I have seen other babies his age do. I haven't noticed any discoloration when he cries. He resists sleep even when he is exhausted. The only way I can get him to fall asleep is by nursing him and even then he will pull off and fight sleep when he starts to drift off. He thrashes alot in his sleep and even moans sometimes. He has light blue-grey eyes. He is 26 inches tall and 19 pounds. He has a hemangioma (birth mark) on his tongue. He has gone through the normal course of vaccines recommended by American Academy of Pediatrics -- DTaP, Hib, Hepatitis B. He got his first vaccine at 3 weeks old. He had jaundice starting at 2 days old. His bilirubin level peaked at 18.8 at 4 days old. When he was younger, I noticed that he was a rapid breather -- 60 breaths per minute, this may have been related to being in pain due to acid reflux.

Based on the information you've given us, I've done a quick repertorising of the main symptoms and would agree with GM that in the first instance chamomilla looks like the best bet. A close second runner from all the gas and the way the baby is with you might just be Lycopodium. Let us know.

Explain to me why Plumbum would be bad. What is Plumbum used for? The homeopath said that he also practices anthroposophy. He said that the Plumbum is for inability assimilate food.
