It would be best to have a cat examined twice a year for worms, because internal parasites can cause many problems in the intestinal tract and elsewhere in the body.
Conventional and safe treatments exist today for treating/preventing worms. They are much safer and less toxic now and more effective.
Homeopathic remedies are also available and are thought to be effective, but only if infestations are not too heavy, However, no tests for their efficacy have been carried out. Homeopathic treatment will take at least 30 days and sometimes treatment has to be repeated.
