Have you given grains a consideration for causing the ear problems? My dog used to get the exact same ear symptoms you describe if she ate any and all types of grains including brown rice. Steroids would help her but the problem would always come back until I quit giving her any and all kinds of grains. Grains would also aggrevate her skin problem.

In my case, the rash first presented itself in July (4th of July Independance Day Celebration) after being introduced to the noise pollution of fireworks for the first time when she was a puppy. She has a history of bad reaction to fireworks.
