Basically speaking you are right !

While advocating the administration of medicines by mouth, Dr. Hahnemann didn`t lose sight of the fact that the same can also be administered by other than the oral route. In the 6th Edition of the Organon in Aphorisms 284-285, he clearly mentions about external applications. He says that the curative remedy should also be continued internally while the same remedy is used externally. (The first edition, however, was strongly antagonistic to external applications ! )

But having said this, huge empirical experience in thousands of (vet.+ human) cases has shown that external application of (a dilution of) Calendula MT in different situations didn`t do any harm at all. I have never come across such a problem, neither in human or veterinary cases ! Perhaps the reason for this is that the dilution is not potentized ???
