Hello habeeba,

Proving is the process of determining the medicinal/curative properties of a substance. This process involves the administration of substances either in crude form or in potency to healthy human subjects in order to observe and record symptoms. A test of the action of a drug upon the healthy body, and a record of the unusual sensations/symptoms produced and/or alterations (changes) from the normal health experienced by one taking the drug.

In other simpler words : The proving of the remedies means, the exercise of having healthy people take the remedy (either the crude substance or the tincture from which homeopathic potencies are made or a remedy in potency) and report carefully any symptoms they experience.

Most people will not respond to a random remedy--but in a large group, and with repeated doses, a few people who are sensitive will develop specific symptoms.

An ideal prover is a person who possesses the following qualifications : He/She is healthy, intelligent, sensitive, delicate, irritable, trustworthy and he should have no urgent business to distract his attention.

Drugs should be proven in provers of different ages and both sexes. In children the toxicological picture is observed.
