Default RE: RS Hom. (NA)

It is my sense that the benefit of a Homeopathic forum is to dialogue in a
positive manner. For the most part this list does in fact do this, however
there is still a discouraging amount of ego problems that do little to
foster Homeopathy. I would suggest that those who are concerned about this
or are able to humble themselves read two excellent articles in the
current issue of Homeopathic Links, "The Shadow of Homeopathy, An Analysis
of the Current Situation in Homeopathy from a Jungian Perspective" by Jane
Cicchetti and "A Homeopathic Shadow Quest" by Helmut Ossege.

Unfortunately our Homeopathic legacy has a shadow pattern that does not
help our cause. The human mind has a bright side (conscious) and dark side
(unconscious). Jane Cicchetti mentions that "The shadow is the
accumulation of everything that an individual or society refuses to
acknowledge or is unable to perceive. Thus it becomes the respository for
negative personality traits that cannot be faced as well as unacceptable
aspects of society." If "no one makes the shadow energy conscience or the
group refuses to acknowledge the shadow, the issues created by the
projection of the shadow continue." The trick is to consciously integrate
these negative projections into useful grist for celebrating the goals of
homeopathy.

There has been much hard and dedicated work to establish criteria and
rigor for the Classical Homeopathic Certification, it is not an elitist
symbol as suggested based on those who can afford it. In the north east
United States, a three credit college course can cost over $3,000 and that
is only a small percentage of a final degree of 120 credits or a 60 credit
graduate degree. The Homeopathic Certification requirements are no where
as expensive(possibly equal to the cost of 2-3 graduate courses in a
traditional university), but require much dedication and motivation. There
are other options to practice Homeopathy in the United States but the
collective efforts of this certification process only enhances the whole
profession. We would benifit to listen carefully to what Jane Cichetti
urges us to consider, "Given the dark and difficult era that we now live
in and the great need for homeopathy on the part of so many people, one
can only hope that we as homeopaths will be able to transcend our
ego-confined concerns.." (p.78)

Warm Regards,
Ken
