The signs and symptoms of a disease in its entirety. Or symptom-complex - the characteristic group of symptoms of a disease which is representative of the disease.

The totality of symptoms is the sum total of the disease symptoms.

§7.."in disease... we can percieve nothing but the morbid symptoms - it must be the symptoms alone by which the disease demands and points to the remedy suited to relieve it... and ... the totality of these symptoms - of this outwardly reflected picture of the internal essense of the disease (the affection of the vital force) must be the sole means whereby the disease can make known what remedy it requires....."

Of course, in practical terms - first, we have to determine what is and what is not a true disease symptom -- in order to come up with a set of symptoms. Today - very few seem to agree on the definiton of a "disease symptom". You've talked about this before.....

What I was trying to say was -- don't get hung up on terms like 'organ remedies'. Because, ultimately, the totality of true disease symptoms is the sole means by which we can select a remedy that will be homeopathic to the case.
